DMT super crystals!!

found this one at tryptamind. how thw hell would one get crystals of spice like that? mabe several re-xtals with super pure DMT from a supersaturated naptha solution evap? mabey a seed crystal is needed to start growing one of those beauties. it might be a DMT HCl crystal though. hmmm...

ill be willing to try some ideas once i get my 1kg of bark and extract it. plannin on using watcha's easy STB. mabey with some extra water though for easier seperation. ill probally do it in several small (100-200g) extractions to get a cleaner product. then evap the naptha for the extra goodies in there and clean it up a bit. if that is an HCL a saturated water solution would probally do it through a very slow evap.

Crystals that size look like they'd be a pain in the ass to chop up.......Pretty though.

First of all, there is no scale to that picture, so you can't really tell how big those crystals actually are. The might be pencil eraser sized.

Second, with pure materials, lab grade reagents and hard vacuum solvent evaporation, you can build some very large salt crystals quite easily.

You'd just have to use saturated heptane and do a very slow crystal growing process, with a seed crystal suspended on a string. Not too hard, but very time-consuming.

but that crystal doesnt look like any dmt crystals ive seen

most have been hexagonal, sharp cornered shapes

never any cylinders or weird rocky masses

p.s. btw, somewhere in the internet, it says mckenna is the one supposed to have made that particular crystal

I agree.
The other dmt pic on erowid with the yellow crystals are the only shape I've ever seen.

It is possible that that was from a HUGE synthetic batch though...

i like heptane idea. keep it at warm temps so freeze precip dosent occure and let it slowly evap. i may try that and see what happens. i recently sent some questions to Dr. shulgin about an easy synth idea i had using dimethylformamide and tryptamine in suspension with a chemical catalist. if im right it would be an easy 2-3 step synth to get tons of DMT [MOD EDIT]

well i finally got my kg of mimosa hostillis from the bear. it weighed out to 1.4kg! guess i buy enough from them to get a hookup every now and then. this bark is super purple, allmost crown royal purple!! i got some pics on my thumb drive but cant find it. still waiting on the lye to get here then ill be on my way to some spice. ill be posting whenever i can and am aiming for a supercrystal. all of this will be for just me so i dont mind loosing a gram here or there to get to a very clean pretty crystal. ill be using whatcha's easy STB with 2 naptha recrystals (freeze precip) and 2 heptane recrystals the second one being an evap rather than a freeze precip. hopefully ill get some super clear big crystals. at least some nicely formed ones.

i couldnt care less about crystals . i have so much sticky white dmt 'powder' (crystal?..) , i will prob never smoke it all in my lifetime. It'd be cooler to have a dmt crystal like that but really i dont give a shit if theres like 15% inactive plant fat in my dmt... i mean some ppl say the earwax makes u trip harder than the white anyways...(i dont believe that but some ppl def do )

If I remember correctly, the 'earwax' DMT is believed to be DMT-N-Oxide.

i think i know how im gonna do it. a saturated solution of heptane in a mason jar in a styrofoam container filled with sand. add a fish tank heater and a string for the crystals to grow on. this if from mycofile over a year ago. i know the crystals in the pic are small but that was from a small solution i plan on desolving atleast 8g in the heptane and letting it sit till i get the crystal i want. i will seed the string with some of the spice so the crystals will start growing easely. heres the link:

Just make sure that the process is as slow as possible, and don't evaporate to complete dryness and it should work perfectly. Personally, I wouldn't be heating it at all.

i belive the heating for the heptane is to keep the DMT from crashing out of the saturated solution as it cools. if i do the methanol recrystal it will innitaly be heated to around 100-110 *F (MP of DMT freebase) when i make the saturated solution but cooled to RT slowly after i add the string. from then it will just have a panty hoes over the jar so no dust gets in while it evaps over several days-weeks at room temp without the ade of a fan. im thinking about coating the top half of the string (above the sol) with wax so the DMT dosent wik up it and form on the sitck/hoes.

sorry If this doesnt fit exactly as I didn't go to those links yet but,
be careful with the evaps. I havd done so with naptha after getting it clean from heptane washes., they turned out with the strucure above but got some yellow from oxidation.

sorry I don't have it but theres a page in the nexus where they do an evap but they do it completely in a container with I believe zinc dust and something els to absorve the solvent. sorry I'll post it if I can find it.

also I have gotten a good clean structure from just soluting back into naptha after the heptane rx's and doing a precipitation (cooling down really slowly)

Oh and forgot to mension imo theres oils that you can pull doing a defat that I don't think you can get all the way with the heptane.

what ever you do I would like to know how it turns out so good luck and keep us updated

In this process, you use a little bit of excess solvent to keep it from crashing out. It's a little different than just recrystallization.
