![]() | Stability of a long term stored partial mescaline extraction?
Okay, suppose there was a isopropanol tar extraction on some powered peruvian torch. The extraction was put on hold before the evaporation step, and stored as alkaloid infused alcohol in HDPE containers. If the extraction were to be completed, would it still be potent, after 4-5 months? And would it be safe?

Great question, I'm wondering the same thing. I have some of that black juice stored in a jar right now, Its been in that jar sealed for almost 2 years, lol. I would imagine it would still be good because alcohol is a great preservative.

I would most deffenantly Imagine so, both are very stable, just make sure you evaporate really really good and you should be fine, theres nothing harmful in cacti and I dont think mold or any infection could grow if theres alc, maybe swirl alittle more fresh alc to kill to be absolute certain but I highly doubt thats needed. sorry for rambling |

There is absolutely no reason for the mescaline to degrade in any way in the alcohol so you should be fine. Very stable molecule and many substances are suspended in alcohol for long periods so I can't imagine where any degradation would occur. Mescaline in the bank my friend LOL.

If it is basified mesc then it will degrade.... not as stable as the salted form. Natural mesc in the cactus comes with natural salts so an alcahol extract will pull these mesc salts ergo no problems with degradation. Just had a thought. Does anyone know what type of acids naturaly occur in cacti? Food for thought.
