They have very weak root systems... tis ok to let them grow bigger before thinning... Remember, did this last year too They start off rather slow, so I prefer to wait till they get going, and thin slowly till down to one good strong plant. I forgot how well my saved seeds germed went a little nuts with each sprinkle lol

Best way to thin when they get larger, even if roots get intertwined, just cut or pinch them off at the soil level. DONE. lol.

    good stuff, ddd.
i have three jiify pellets currently sprouting lots of the little fellas,
    so i'm soakin-up the info!!
i was thinking of transfering them to a soilless potting medium,
    such as expanded clay pellets:
do you think this'll support their root system?

I never saw them get huge root balls... even the 3-4 gallon pots I had the large one in didn't get full of roots...

But they do suck up nutrients like nothing else...

I think I tried some in jiffy pellets too last year... make sure they get some strong light at first... they are a bit slow to get going. But you should be able to stick them in whatever once the roots start poppin out and it looks healthy.

Do you roll with the fresh leaves and then dry them, or can you dry the leaves and then roll one?

Looking well... still only in indirect light most of the time.. some slight direct sun. I will not start adjusting them to full sun by placing them outside directly in the sun for a few hours each day, usually mid afternoon now.

The roots are still VERY fragile... much movement on these will rip them out EXTREMELY easily.

They need some energy now sucked in from the new leaves to get their roots going. Then, when the trays have nice little solid rooted plants with a few sets of leaves, outside, and we really let it do it's thing!

These really need bright light right from the start, but I had limited window space and tobacco was on bottom of list haha But you can see they can be made to work
