you want to stop feeding for about a week before taking cuttings. foliar feeding [misting the undersides of the leaves] is pretty safe so long as it evaporates off but wait until after taking your cuttings, you want them hungry so they'll root fast to find nutes. siam, Another thing to think about is when you go to flower stage cut way down on the nitrogen in the fretilize. Usually people stop fertilizing for a a while then go to a flowering fert. Saving male plants for their polin is really not a good idea. As hip said pollin can carry "miles" to other plants in a good wind. Also if you get a hymaphradite all the pollin from that plant will have that tendency. The all you get is male / female seeds and plants ! I F'd up one time and grow a bunch of wortless plants. They had decent buds but full of seed and all the energy goes to the seeds not the thc and buds. But make up some fert with less nitrogen to water them while flowering ! with afgani the fan leaves will turn yellow when the buds start really growing And never pick the fan leaves as they make the food "Sugers" for the branch that grows from it ! that only stunts you plants size. this pic is from a afgani strain. When it started to show flower stage i stopped all nitrogen in the fert. This plant still had 6 weeks let till harvest. Awesome smell and high ! |

cutting nitrogen 6 weeks from harvest is extreme, in my opinion. even more so if using organics. 2 weeks of reduced nitrogen before harvest is said to improve the mj's taste and burn-ability but it doesn't improve yield a bit. |

I was a little to harsh when i said all nitrogen. I goto a organic flower liquid fert. It has very little n in it. But you should down the nitrogen for Flowering. dont ya think hip? MJ uses alot of it when in vegitation stage for leaf grow out ! I got most of my stuff from ed r's old book. and grew for meny years . Also if using chemical ferts. You can taste the N in the smoke. That just in my taste ! Maybe its all a matter of opinion In that pic the plant was grown in a five gallon bucket. That yeilded almost a half lb. Sweet and sticky ! thick buds ! |

on fan leaves, leave all healthy green leaves but remove any sick/diseased leaves ASAP as for nitrogen- feed a regular fert thru 90% of the flowering phase, something like a 1-2-1 NPK. you need the nitrogen for fast vigorous growth. by cutting so early you are in effect stunting the plants. as i said above, reduce nitrogen feedings about 2 weeks before harvest, that's plenty of time for the plant to dig into it's stored nitrogen which loss improves flavor and smokability. but one can feed nitrogen otherwise thru flowering too, not just veg. i have on occasion neglected to remember to cut nitrogen the only effect was that the smoke was a bit harsher and the bud kept going out, had to be lit every hit. PITA yes but by no means a total loss. |

Just adding to my last reply. I dont mean any harm with my replies. I'm not explaining my self very well. (never pic fan leaves) I ment when plant is in veg stage. I do pick the bad leaves off. But as we all know picking fan leaves of when in vedg stage will stunt that branch growing from that point ! I have picked on from one side and that branch stunted. I'v have done control studies myself. So this is all a matter in my own workings... I don't mean to pass off any bad information. I use a strong dry organic fert in my soil. and when i use a 5 gallon bucket , i put a 1/4 cup in the soil at the bottom. And through vedg stage i use liquid as per scribed to foilage spray. I stop using that as soon as i see it going into flower stage. at this time i spray the leaves with afert with no nitro Just to kick in the flower stage and again half way throgh. But i also use a bloom juice that does have very little nitro in it. and i do use it in the watering every two weeks. Beings i put a heavy nitro dry fert in the soil so it's still suppling nitrogen doring flower. Again, sorry if i gave bad info. I'll be more specific and thorough with my replies. Pic are the dry food. (sweet corn food). grow juice (Liquid kelp and fish emulsion) bloom juice and flower booster..... |

That fox farm Big Bloom is some good stuff, used it many times. It can get expensive though. you can make your own using jamican guano and a small amount worm castings. An easy tec would be to use 1 bag fox farm ocean forest (In the teal colored bag) 1 bag light warrior. (*moricizzal fungi) and a 3 drops per gal. of super thrive to spring water when watering. And atleast a 400 watt light if inside. Just add Seed! |

this is how the girl looks like in a month grow from seed.. not bad! since she just went into flowering. and fast too! he wants to save this strain for breeding and at the point wanting to do cuttings. in the last pic you will see 3 area of interest..sector "A" is nice and long and has flowers forming and "b" and "c" are new branches... also he has been feeding her bat poo tea with biochemically active amino acid of low molecular protein my question is does he go ahead and take cutting from "a" or leave it and wait for "b" and "c" to get longer??? maybe both when the time comes?? any thoughts? peace siam |

they should be bigger, imo. bigger = more stored food = better shot at survival btw hard to clone flowering plants, better return them to veg, wait for new growth to appear then begin looking for suitable shoots for cutting |

Let'S grow weed!!! Mushrooms grow faster but i eat far less mushroom than smoke veed so this year i planted 40seeds 10 Dutch passion 10 magic cristal 10 mexican sativa and 10 stoney high all good qaliti herbz! Unfortunetly the nematodes eated the half of the seeds before they began to root. I hate those little pests i think the only vay to get rid of them is to pressur cook the potting soil! The mature plants are resistant! It's my 5. grow and i think this time it'll rock!!!!!! IF YOU'D like to see some pics write me how to post them and i'l do it! Peace |

has been 9 days since our last pic,,,ok we had a few storms and had a few close call of having mangoes dropping like bombs so he decided to make a open green house on the other side of the land. by comparing the size to the old kfc bucket she had stretch well...hehe

![]() | 5 weeks 4 days
Sorry for the late up date, here she is at 5weeks 4days, not much longer...on the 17th the left lower cola was pollenated with lowryders and on the 22nd the right with masterlow, the center 2 branches will be for experiemental smoke. so far looking good, i do feel these will finish before the 8th week, the weather is so hot here 100+, the trich is still forming and still clear, as soon they turn milky...its time. the last pic is the purple [haze] cross with g13, she started as a runt and is slow, its in the 2week of flowering. this one i will not topped and do the pull down instead for experiment on growth and yeild..also was wondering if this is a good time to add magnesium (dry grandular form), and if so how much. peace siam |

![]() | Last entry...HARVEST
46 days into flowering and trich are 5% ambered, time to harvest, as we don't want any couch lock buzz. Got a decent harvest from the first grow without any veg stage..i guess? He will leave the rest untouched as she still has seed pods that will finish next week then will put her back into veg and take clones. Really like this strain, a good Afghani hash taste, smoooth and the buzz is up and active... ok enjoy. |
