hey stephen
i had a question. i have an ion for a room in my house that has no electrical appliances in it. i wanted to buy another one for my master bedroom, but am a little concerned about it interfering with a few things i have in my room. i have my computer setup in the room, and store a high end digital camcorder and a high end digital camera in the room. i dont want to run the generator and have it electrically charge any of these things.

what are your thoughts

i know that in the room with no electronics, anything metal gets charged. there is a metal bookshelf with some books on it and if i touch it, pzap lol
nothing major, it doesnt hurt, just lets you know its charged. same goes for a desklight switch.

my concern is that it can mess up my digital camera and camcorder etc. i dont want it to fry the electronics or whatever could happen (not an electrician as you can tell).

after a little bit of time even i become staticky lol. if im in close proximity especially.

I run one in our computer room. I have a docking station for my camera there too, along with other electronic gear. Can't say I have ever had any problems. I take pictures everyday with my camera, and I am here now posting. The Ion is about 15 feet away and is used to just keep the air clean, no sterile mushroom work. I can see where there might become a problem if the Ion was sat right next to the computer. Maybe you could go visit say "computer.alt.geaks"....grin, and ask the question about heavy static charges.........slp/fmrc

im not a member of any newsgroups or i would ask. man im not very comp and electic suavy. maybe someone who is into comps and electronics can shed some light on this question?

i had stepen's ion generator setting in my room for a week or so... about 4 ft from my computer and camera and never knowtice anything screwy with them... i have also set my portable cd player on the kitchen table that the ion generator now sits on many times and never noticed problems... just my experience.. hope it helps

I've had one sitting in the same room as my computer, laptop and digital camera for the last month or so for cleaning the air like stephen and haven't noticed any problems so far with any of my equipment. It's about 6 feet from my desktop computer.
