    YEARLY FESTIVALS

Hey all... I just had an idea while reading Prism's kool bag thread... I would love to see a list of different venues and festivals everyone attends during the year. We could compile a massive master list of killer festivals. There's a cool renaissance festival in my area during the fall. My gf just went this year and had a blast. So, anyone else have any cool festivals we can look forward to in the up coming year?

Hey, I meant to post this a few days ago, but here it is:

This is a pretty good site for festival lookups, mostly jam style
and bluegrass festivals, with some hip hop thrown in.

    Hempfest on the Boston Common.
High noon on the third Saturday of September
Not sure if it still goes on every year.
I vaguely remember hearing an ad for it
on the radio this past Sept.
    Good local bands.
And as long as you don't act like a fool,
    smoking pot is pretty accepted.
I personally didn't feel it was neccessary to see if the
Police would arrest me or not for blazing, so I kept
it low like any other concert.
Was mainly there to see Sam Black Church and Tree anyway.
    Ahhh, the good old days.............

This looks good. Unfortunately, I'm not up for subjecting my 3 month old's immune system to it...love to hear how it goes down though.

The most tripped out fantastic fests on earth are at harmony park in MN.

Harmony Park Music Garden :: Clarks Grove Minnesota

picture, if you will, thousands of thousands of hippies, shamans, beat-niks, trippers, dreamers, lovers, dancers, drummers, with dozens of bands on always many stages, all in the middle of one of the most beautiful places on earth. miles of woods to wander. Not to mention the fact that 99% of "security" are volunteers who do a 5 hour shift to get in free, chances are if you run into one while smoking, drinking or anything else they will just ask for a puff/sip/hit and wander on.

First up this year is bella sol.

    cant wait

    Peace and love,
    ~DL

This will be my 10th year at Burning Man. My advice to anyone who wants to go: do it sooner than later. As with any big event, it keeps getting bigger and more and more of a negative element is creeping in. Go earlier in the week when it's less crowded, you will get more of a true feeling of the event, before the weekend crowd arrives. This will be my last year (although i always say that, i mean it this time) because i'm pretty over being dirty and hot for an entire week.

Lovefest is a parade through the streets with floats, alcohol and loud music. It goes from morning till i think around 6-ish. I'm not sure of the parade route, but it's not incredibly long and everyone ends up in this big square i think by city hall. The floats are anything from a couple of bicycles taped together with streamers attached to roving DJ decks with sound systems. Since a lot of big burning man theme camps have their home base in SF, there's always a DJ float from the Space Cowboys spinning hard trance as well as one from the Deep End playing deep house. Since they sell incredibly expensive drinks at concession stands, you will get stopped at the edge of the route and security will check your bags looking for liquor bottles. My buddies and i usually pour vodka and redbull into camel packs and smuggle it in that way.
