Okay, so most of you know how much I love that darn Invitro Tek, and I've tried a good amount of strains using this method (GC, EQ, GT, PFC, B+, Texas) so now after seeing how well people do with South Americans I would like to know if this strain has good potential for Invitro?

1 half pint PF cake ground up and spawned to coir/strawnet/worm poo substrate. Cased with coir/verm with a pinch of lime one week after spawning. Sat in a window at a 45 degree angle and forgotten for two weeks. The right side of the pic was the top of the box. The larger fruits at the top fell down on the lower smaller fruits, giving it the crowded in the middle look. Quarter used for reference in first pick. The size of the fruits could have been a little bigger and the caps allowed to open but I don't believe it would have added any significant weight just a loss of potency. 550 grams wet, it took ten minutes to split all of the hollow stems for drying. I usually just dry my shrooms and brush off the casing but I plan on using the stumps in another prodject.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yup stems are goooooood! I never need 2 hours ...depends on when I ate last...but I know if something is up within 30-45 minutes regardless after ingesting the psilly.SA caps can get pretty damn big too..maybe oughta invest in a weighing device..you can pick up a digi for less than 25 bucks at most headshops..and for sure less than that on E-Bay

I do have a scale, but after 2 people each ate an eigth, I just ate the best part and as much as I could to be sure I could trip before I threw everything away. I ended up eating about 13 caps and 4 or 5 of the stems, and I have never tripped so hard in my life. It wasn't bad, I thought it was great, but man it was mind blowing.

Usually take me about 30-40 minutes to start to feel the magic. But i always fast before and i puree them in the oj. Gotta watch out for the nasty foam if you do it that way.

There are other important factors, like what stage they were at when harvested and whether you had a full stomach when you ate them or if you'd fasted a few hours, among other things. I think the idea that caps are 'more' potent than stems comes from thinking about it like pot, (we smoke the top buds and throw out the stems). The caps of mushrooms, especially if they are mature (opened to plane), are producing a massive sporeload, and spores have no psilly in them (thank GOD), so by weight the caps are certainly less potent. The actual flesh of the mushroom (as opposed to the spores) is just differentiated mycelium, so stem-flesh and cap-flesh are going to be comparably potent...it's just that caps have all that other mass with no potency, which dilutes them a bit. The cap of a mushroom whose veil hasn't yet popped would, I'd bet, be exactly as potent as the stem, but cap potency diminishes quickly relative to stems after the veil rips.

But anyway, Shroomery refers to a study which shows caps being more potent than stems. Have you seen figures that show otherwise? For me, the point is moot because I'd never eat one without the other.

I've never isolated from spores before, just cloned. all i gotta do is cut a chunk of the strandy stuff out and transfer to a new plate? at what point can you tell your down to one strain? btw the date looks like 5/1 but it was actually 6/1 |

Very nice looking dish!!!! Transfer it before it reaches the edge of the dish. That is where contams are more likely to be. And you've got it right, transfer a small piece of the mycelium into a new dish. I prefer a scalpel. I can slice just the top layer of agar, and then poke it with the tip of the blade to transfer over. Make sure you sterilize whatever blade you are using between each transfer. An alcohol lamp works well. You can make a homemade one out of a half pint jar with lid, a piece of sock, and some 99% isopropyl alcohol. The more dishes you transfer into, the more isolates you are making. You'll know you've got an isolate when it grows uniformly across the plate, all of the rhizomorphic mycelium strands will grow at roughly the same rate and in the same pattern. Good luck and you'll have fun fruiting your different isolates. Make sure you label good

Iffin you got the bucks & plan to be doing alot of agar work from here on out, (most folks get into it after they try it) buy a whole case of dishes. They aren't a whole lot of cash, a discount kicks in for that many. Ask, you might be surprized.
