to dunk or not to dunk

for those of you with a sense of humor only..."this is my first baby should i dunk her now or should I ____"

Dunking is always good..the problem is I don't know how your gonna get that cake out of that jar..you should have used a tapered mouth jar. you may have to break it apart to get it out..so crumbling and casing it (with some verm and coir if u have it) in a tray may be the best option at this point

Thanks I know...this was a impulse innoculation....in other words the only jar I had...what about cutting it out ??

Damned, what you do, go away for a week or two? That is one solid looking, packed in cake! Well, yeah, you can smash that jar, but, will hunting for glass shards in your shrooms be any more fun? Nah.. Dunk it, verm it and enjoy the fruits of your neglect, cause it sure looks like it wants to pop!

Yeah pry it out directly into a clean ziplock bag..crumble it in the bag...then put into a tray and spread it out...cover with foil...poke some holes for air and let it "recover" for 2 or 3 days..then apply moist (field capacity) verm...you can put it in the fc then ..thats simple enuf for your first time..and should work.

I have a jar with a similar amount of substrate.

I'm thinking of just dunking it and then covering the sides with foil and applying a casing mix directly to the top of the jar.

I can't see why that wouldn't work.

It should shrink enough after fruiting a time or two to just fall out of the jar.
