Is it possible to clone reishi in agar?

Hi, i just found a stump at the local golf course that has some very reishi looking growth. Ill post the pics later, when i get the camera. I have been wanting to get this species for a long time now and i wonder if it can be cloned in agar.
Does it have to be a special agar recipe or will the standard MEA work just fine?
    JoY.

Just adding some pics. Im not 100% sure this is reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum), but it looks really similar. Hope someone can confirm.

The outer edge of the mushroom. It's very hard to get in there even. The mushroom wants to split into small sections. The best you can do is; split the outer edge in a sterile environment and use a super sharp scalpel or a tweezer to snag out a strand of the tissue. It's not that hard really, but be prepared to transfer the growth to a new plate.

Ok. I tried that and after 48 hours i see no signs of growth nor contamination. However i i will keep this updated if any change. If this doesnt go well ill try again. I know where to find more.

Dont worry peeps, reshi is here !!!

Ok. My last post was 24 hours ago. I cant really believe my eyes, this thing exploded in 24 hours. I still cant believe what i see. but i confirmed with the other sample, which is not as big, but its growing too, a bit slower tho.

You can see them in the pics. these are the two samples i picked from the mushroom above. The first one showed signs of growth last night, before i went to bed. The second one just now. Sorry for the crappy pics. When my GF brings me the camera ill take proper pics.

    Any comments welcome.

    Joy.

    Nice job.

Now you'll certainly want to transfer the leading edge of the mycelium to a new dish and don't be afraid to do a few more transfers as well. There's nothing worse than thinking you're golden with a clean culture and then after a few days a bread mold starts growing all over your mushroom's mycelium. By that point the project has been set back a lot and transfers could be more than 10.

I know it's a pain in the ass, but trust me on this one.

Wow that right one seems to be nice and healthy. Do you have any wood in that agar?

Sadly, all samples contaminated. I had to throw away everything. I will try again as soon as i get a new specimen, since the last one i used it in an infusion for my GF, which by the way worked out very well.
