![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | pans on horse poo
This is my first try with horse poo and pan cyan ...I had been using worm castings ...This goliath strain originally from sporeworks seems to grow larger with this new substrate...Pin density is about the same from multispore but there's more meat...Amazingly this is only 19days from innoc ...they have been fruited at 82-89F and def like things warm... It's time to clone a big boy..hehee.... |

definitely more nutrients in h.poo than w.poo way to go golly! congrats and enjoy never had pan cyans but from what i hear its a must try, your work is sooo inspiring i am curious, what does the average mushy weigh? they cant be all that heavy or how many do you dose for desired effect? (off yer old sub) totally awesome thx for sharin with us here goll.

thanx guys...they certainly are worth the effort...That's a good question cap i'll weigh these and see what the equivelent dry weight is ...with most pans -it takes about 6 for a real good time...we'll see... Part of the reason for the speedy colo time is the shakable cake -horse poo+15% BRF...u can get a good spore distribution when u can shake it up.. Pictured below is B4 innoc'n and at 9 days after the shake... |

It's day 20 and the first harvest is in...2 trays produced about 105 grams wet [added 5 grams for caps n stems used for print n cloning]... I'm pretty happy with the grow but would like to improve the pin set density...I took four clones hopefully that will help... In reality though i have enough for 8 good trips - so these trays are plenty for a while...i'll post the dry weight later tater.... |

For the clones i'm using a variation on fhats isolation tek... Half pint 1/6th full of sterilized grains.. 3/4 inch stem section dunked in 35% H2o2 for 15 seconds then rinsed in sterile water bath for 10 seconds - then dropped into grain jar ,using tweezers... grains are made to completely surround the clone by tilting the jar.... When colonized i will inject about 80cc h2o then shake like crazy and withdraw liquid myc.... |

Hey laz ..these were grown in a tub with 2" of water in the bottom .. An aquarium bubble stone provides RH% and fresh air... The trays are elevated above the water which has a bit of peroxide to keep things fresh... The next 2 trays are in the tent with a coolmist as it is now warm enough for em... |

Ok ..On the 4th day all clone jars are beginning to show mycelium growth .The jar pictured here is the more advanced ...Will get pix of the others when they are showing a bit more... The 100gram wet weight of that previouse flush dried down to 9 grams,,i have also harvested another 40g wet from the trays -which are now a lovely shade of green...lol...nothing lasts forever... |

hey golly, how do you do the clone innoc.? in a glovebox? or just really quickly in open air? i'm working on a cloning tek with an oven bag... start out with a 'faht jar' in the bag. the bag is then zip tied so that there is extra bag opening left... kinda like big pony tail. get me? (don't forget to put some kind of filter patch on the bag, i use 5/8 in. tubing filled with polyfil, attached to the part of the bag that the jar is sitting in with zip ties. otherwise the bag will 'pop' in the pc) then pc the bag. i have everything ready to clone... the specimen, all my tools etc. before i get the bag out of the pc. now i take the section of the mushroom to be cloned and put it inside the ponytail part of the bag so that it's sitting on top of the zip tie that is sectioning off the actual bag part containing the jar. Now i pour about a 1/4 cup of H2O2 (3%) over the cloning section in the ponytail part. Then i squeeze out the air and zip tie that section off. so this is what it looks like.... the actual bag part containing the jar... a zip tie... then the section holding the H2O2 and cloning piece... another zip tie... then the now smaller ponytail part that goes to the opening of the bag.. now you can massage the cloning piece around in the H2O2 until you're happy that it's sterile... open the jar using your hands thru the bag, don't open the bag. the bag is flexible so you can use the hands to unscrew the lid while the jar is still in the bag. then cut (very carefully) the first zip tie so that the H2O2 and cloning piece pour into the part where the jar is.. simply use your fingers to move the piece of cloning tissue into the jar and screw the lid back on.. NOW you can open the bag and retrieve your faht jar with the cloned piece in it. the jar never gets opened outside of the bag keeping contams WAY down. what do you think? i've already got one going thats starting to grow out... I don't have a camera at the moment so this would be easier to explain that way. but i just wanted to run it by ya to see what ya thought. ![]() fahtster |

I think i understand what yer sayin faht ..is that easy to manipulate..? I do use a glove box for clones and regular nockin up... spray all the lids and tools with alcohol b4 putting in... So u have a 3%peroxide clone growing -thats pretty good ..did u use just the internal tissue..? I found that the 3% stuff not to be reliable when using whole stem sections. Maybe 1 of 5 would make the cut... A picture sure would help with your idea but it sounds like a safe method... Hey buck ,,I agree -One and a quarter grams is my perfect dose for lots of colour and magic with out loosing my mind...heh.. |

nah... i'm using inner stem sections. do you think, or anyone for that matter, that a bleach solution would be better? just keep it in there longer? or maybe do a 3% dip then use the bleach solution in the 'quarentine' section of the bag? thanks for the input. ![]() fahtster |

i have tried a bleach dip followed by a sterile water rinse - it did work but was slower than with h202 ..If your using internal tissue i would think a quick 3%peroxide dip would b fine ...i'm no expert on cloning though ,only done a few...

No i didn't use verm in the jars but u certainly could if the mix needs to be lightened in texture or if u are going to fruit the spawn without mixing to bulk substrate [for increased water holding capacity] I usually add some verm to the pasteurized substrate instead - that way there is only food in the jars and no inert matter... |

This is another tray blooming in a tent style setup with coolmist humidifier. These also grew fast -now at day 23 from multispore...The substrate and casing is only 1 inch deep... The next tray i gonna try a different method to increase the pinset.. should see something by the weekend i hope... |

Nice Golly! Let me know if you wanna try the Pan Viets. Goliath is great, but after all was said and done, I really enjoyed working with the Viets. Mostly because of their pinset density and the extreme buzz. With cyans, cloning is definitely the way to go. With the Ban Thurians, mulitspore was truly a sad sight. The next generation was started via tissue culture, and the pinset was so dense I couldn't see thru the canopy. For whatever reason, I never cloned Goliath, so I'm interested in your results.

Actually jim, there are some Pan viets in part of that first harvest pictured in the beggining of this post - they get taller than goliath but not as broad...The original print came from you ...i do love em..and thankyou for that gift... Here's a pic of some nice goliath caps collected today ...almost 2 inches across the larger one... |

Now at day 8 these clones will be ready to create a mycelium syringe tommorow [full colo is not nessessary]...all i needed was one good jar but as u can see 4 of 4 did well with the peroxide dip...the other jars will be refridgerated for later use... First person to guess the name of this flower wins a pan print... |

Dude, NICE work with those clone jars! It should be really easy to make myc syringes. Beauty that all 4 came out clean, too! No idea on the flower, but it is a nice pic...

nope...but i'll tell u why it's such a great plant... Blooms continuously from spring to frost. whole plant smells like citrus. rabbits deer and groundhogs wont touch it.. but humming birds n flutterbye's love it.. the flowers change colour as they age... practically bullet proof but it wont get u high .... Well i didn't say it was perfect.... So i still have a nice fat print just waiting to find a new home... |
