    Panaeolus Cambodia pics

Got a faint but well usable print few months ago from FSRE, labeled "Pan cam" (Thank you!) First attempt with agar > grain spawn > manure completely failed, probably because of contaminated spawn. Second with humble LECA/manure/rye flour cakes inoculated with a spore syringe worked ok. Three colonized cakes were squished in a recycled 0.8l PP tray and cased with (sterilized) 1:1 peat/LECA with some calcium carbonate. Temperature 24-26C with lots of FAE (aquarium bubbler). First flush was ready for picking at morning of 9. day after casing, second at evening of 10. day and third at morning of 12. day. I'm expecting more flushes. This strain seems to produce pins easily and good spore prints too. Some mushrooms are growing at sides and bottom of the tray, I have never before had a Panaeolus do that.

As far as I can tell this is another cyanescens. The last microscope image is of Panaeolus Goliath sample in same pixel size to compare. I find no significant difference in spore size etc. (But I'm not an expert.)

This strain just appears to have a brown color when young, instead of being grey-green like some other Panaeolus.

LECA is "Light Expanded Clay Aggregate" also known as fired clay pebble and grow rocks. Crushed LECA is cheaper and easier to obtain than vermiculite around here and it works for me.

Another 1.5 days and fourth flush, 13. day from casing. For me Panaeolus grows all caps with no stems in later flushes. There are still lots of pins developing but I do not expect much of 5. flush.

The 5. and final flush. This tray might still produce more mushrooms but I have an another project waiting. My growing terrarium is very simple, just a plastic box with a spoon tray on bottom and an aquarium pump and a large aquarium stone in a water filled plastic jar as humidifier. (My jar has a cover and a tube to direct fresh humid air downwards, but it really is no better or worse than a simple water mug.) Humidity is quite high but so is air flow too. In my experience this system works well both for casings and uncased cakes with no required misting or fanning. It is in a small closet with a 30W fluorescent tube for light and an oil filled electric radiator as heater. I adjust temperature to 24-26C/75-80F for Panaeolus, anything over 20C/68F for cubensis.

five flushes seems beyond the average. nice work

so .5g was a good dose?
my friend has 1g of pan cyan cambo's waiting to try.
maybe he will share it with a friend, or maybe he will eat the whole 1g by himself
