    Arrow Psilocybe Mexicana Jalisco [pinning]

I used the last 2 colder weeks to make an try with Jaliscos. I love the mexican exotics so i cant wait till autumn when its colder here.

It had some jars with colonized gras seeds/straw/compost and cased them i think 7-8 days ago and today i see the first pins.

I also made some jars with more straw/compost but the mycel colonize this mix slowly. I cased this tray today and hope it will also pin the next 14 days. I have no Psilocybe Mexicana experience with straw and or compost but i see here some nice grows and hope it will work for me too.

I use peat/verm/calcium carbonate as casing layer.

The temps in the growing chamber range from 21-25 degrees. These are the roomtemps at the moment.

Here are the first pics, i hope they mature.

great to see someone growing actual shrooms instead of sclerotia with a mexicana .
hope you can get some prints,

I always try to grow shrooms out. I also made some Mex A Jars but i think i wait till autumn before i try to grow them. I Only had a few times success with the Mex A but never grow much shrooms.

It is really disappointed that all peoples only grow sclerotia. It isnt so hard as everybody think. I dont do something special and the grow chamber is the same as for my actual Cube grow.

I hope also that the print because my old print doesn't germ very well.

Come on guys, dont grow always only cubes and pans. Try also the mexican exotics.

btw: Im on the search for some semperviva spores/cultures maybe an good soul read this

I will restart my semperviva soon. I expect its still alive and viable. I've been meaning to get it going for a microscopy work-up anyway. I am looking for a good samuiensis print. I have several but they are all apparently dead after a year in storage.

Good work on the Jalisco mexicana. It has been selected for relatively easy fruiting compared to the Mexicana A.

Thanks. It is really easy to grow so far and in 1 tray really many shrooms grow.

If one decides to fruit mexicana, instead of allowing screletoria to form invitro, would the actuall substrate still produce screletoria or is it either fruit or screletoria?

I think not much sclerotia will forming but the jalisco is as workman say

I have some multispore jalisco on agar that forms more sclerotia as my actually mex a on agar.

Here are 2 pics of an mex a jar. I also try to grow it out but in my past grows with mex a it was always better to let form many sclerotia before fruiting them. The sclerotia of this jar press very heavy on the top of the jar i hope it will not destroy the filter.

Growing sclerotia is really cool because it is very easy but i want to see the shrooms. When i just want to grow shrooms for myself i whould grow cubes because they are so easy to grow and i have with them the best psychedelic experiences. I never get this power from other shrooms and i eat in the far past often 5g+ Pans or many azus at one time (dont do this at home !).

In my experience the more mushrooms you get in a tray the less sclerotia forms in the tray. Exceptionally good crops of mushrooms may have no sclerotia at all forming in the casing.

I dug out my 2 semperviva prints and placed them both on agar today. They are pretty old (7+ years) so cross your fingers. I have some dried specimens that are younger that may have viable spores on the gills if this attempt fails. I'll start a new thread if I get germination.

I've found propagation from gill fragments a good (maybe even better) alternative when spores have proven obstinate.
So far I haven't found a case where gill fragments failed to germinate when agar medium was suitable.( I prefer PDA over MEA for more delicate mycelia)

Here are some new pics. I made yesterday some test prints with poor results. The caps dry really quick, much quicker then tamps. I misted the caps before i harvest them for printing but this dosent helps much. Those are really small fuckers . I hope the next trys give better results. Maby i have to build me an box with wet perlite we will see. What is Sporeworks tek for small ones?

The cluster in the blue box looks really great.

When I print tiny mushrooms I lightly mist inside of the cover I'm using, enough to fog it but not so much droplets would drop on prints.
