FYI: This post has totally inspired me to give this pan trop/pan cyan thing another shot (first attempt only yielded a couple of fruits and got contaminated).
This compost/straw and in my case popcorn mixture seems to be a winning concept. I have just inoculated 4 jars with pan cyan spores using the above mix with store bought compost.... fingers crossed and all that!

@mullugh: just try it. it was not to hard after all.
my first pan grow also wasn't good. just one cambodginiensis and one cyanescens cake yielded some fruits and the cyan died 3 days after pinning, because i dropped my growbox and the cake got smashed into pieces

this is my 2nd grow... and it worked out well until now

@prankster: i have 6 jars of p. mex jalisco, nearly fully colonized, on rye grain, because i couldn't get new grass seeds until now. i'll try to fruit them, some with and some without sklerotia. maybe at least i get some fruits, and if not, no problem, next time i'll know better

i hope to get grass seeds until next week and then i'm going to try it the right way.

i had not enough time to make all the new substrate and today i bought 2 kg bird seed so about 1/2 of the jars will be straw/compost/bird seed. i think it should also work fine.

new pics are going to come tomorrow

im finding some of the pan strains aren't catching on rye berry well. finding popcorn with amaranth and millet to be working well.

would have been to easy if everything worked out this good, but some of them will get big and nice for some new prints for sure. i think i'll just need to gain a bit more experience, than everything should work fine ^^

i'm just fanning in fres air abou 6-7x/day. i don't have any money to buy an aquarium pump, but next week i'll get one.

just harvested the first cambodginiensis. at least i got 13 fruits good enough for prints. i also harvested all the aborts i could and i got about 60-70%. there are about 7-8 big ones to harvest tomorrow and there are also many new ones coming. i hope 2nd flush gets better

the first tropicalis will also be harvested tomorrow

no shrooms for good prints until now and i havested nearly all of them. i hope to get some prints from the new ones coming

i tested 0,9g pan. cambodginiensis yesterday and i'm speechless

i expected them to be strong, but i was like 5+g cubensis.
first hour was hard (i had to puke some times) but later i took a bath, smoked a joint and than i walked around in the wood for about 4 hours.

when i came home i smoked some joints and hit the hay.
