I have no direct information on potency. It is reportedly as potent, if not more potent, than Psilocybe semilanceata when collected from the wild. It rarely stains blue even with severe abuse.

There was no spawn involved in this test. Agar went directly into quart jars of sterile horse manure.

is that standard procedure for this species
or was it just for test ?

    Wonderful as always Workman!

I noticed the 55 degree temp. for initiation. Thats sounds like a nice strain for winter time.

    What were incubation, spawning temps.?

Excellent work as always. Thanks for sharing this history in the making.

"Psilocybe hispanica was discoverd by Ignacio Seral in 98' growing high in the hills of Spain. This species was originally found growing on horse dung, next to a patch of of P. semilanceata. An Italian mycologist named Giorgio Samorini did the initial research. He realized this was a new species and classified it as Psilocybe Hispanica. Therever little information about this species, but it will most likely be featured in Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World Part 2. Its potency is said to be a nice clean high somewhat like a Panaeolus cyanescens."

When I am doing small tests of new species I generally use agar to directly innoculate the final substrate. Its very inefficient but it works for my purposes.

I recently found that colonization growth is fastest at around 80F, which is suprisingly warm for a temperate species.

Cool, workman! How aggressive is the mycelium? How fast did it run through the substrate?

    Mature, or nearly so.

The mycelium is fairly aggressive but thin. It thickens up when exposed to the environment. Manure is colonized in about 2 weeks at 80F.

It is a cortinate veil. Common with some species of Psilocybe.

Psilocybe hispanica prints have been available at Sporeworks.com for years. But this particular isolate should be in the store before the end of the month.
