![]() | Seperation of alcohol & mush complete! Using standard coffee filters I have passed this phase without any hiccups. I secured a coffee filter to the top of the jar with rubber bands to avoid the filter & much dropping into the jar. I poured in the seperated alcohol first, then spooned in the wet mush powder mud, and gently pressed it to release the fluids. After all the mud was in the filter, I removed the filter assembly and added another filter underneath...this was in case the single filter tore as I sqeezed the mud tightly. Lost a few drops here, but nothing much...the filters tore right at the end, without anything dropping out. I will reduce the fluid over the next few days, until I get this plus the second extract to fit into a 250ml jar. (Estimating, so I'll try to reduce this first extract to about 150ml) With the old mush I have started a second extraction to try to get as much out as possible. I added about 5ml of Vitamin C crystals to this. (10 ml in the first) I'm not an Everclear drinker, so why not? I see that after only 6 hours the alcohol is already changing color. I have to wonder, why is it that this method only gets to 80%? Is it possible that an amout of everclear has limits of how much it will leach out before a balance is established with the chemicals within the powder? If so I shoud get my money's worth by running a second extraction. If it gives an additional 10~15% leaving only 5~10% unextactable, I'd call that well worth the effort. I will take a pic tomorrow of the color... Forward!
