ISO Mushroom Extract Questions

I took a bunch of scraps I had accumulated and made some extract up.

I took a big half gallon jar, filled it with the scraps, filled with 99% ISO alcohol, and let it soak an hour shaking it about every now and then. After the soak it was strained through a t-shirt and then evapped.

I went from this here -








To this tiny lil bit here -








Went from a bunch of dirty scraps down to 1.2 grams of black gooey mushroom stinky stuff.

Now my question is about how to dose it. According to Erowid, a heavy dose of psilo is 50-60mg. 1.2 grams is 1200 mg, or 20-24 doses! There is very very lil here. I'm unsure how pure it is which is not making any dosing decisions easier.

As always, any advice, is appreciated

Keep track of the weight dry going in and then maybe use the goo for jello shooters based on how many doses the dry would have been.

Sorry I can't make a comment on the potency Dooby, it might have to come on a trial basis.


You only soaked it for an hour? Is that enough time to extract all the magic?

Please let us know if you trial this. An hour is not a long time at all

Like Roc said, knowing the weight going in will help you gage the dosage.

Find someone crazy enough to jump in head first? not recommended at all.

If you don't know the weight of what you just did, why not try eying out that stuff in the bin into that jar and see how many inches high it is for whatever weight it is, then ratio it to your estimated height from the snaps you took?

Estimate for what went in... I'd say about 4-5 ounces... around 115-150 grams of actual mush material. There was a lot of verm and things left over in that last one.

The new one is 107g of nearly perfectly clean scrap material...



Yes, only one hour... I figured that tea works shorter than that, and it's water, not alcohol... If someone thinks it should be done longer, I'll do it longer. Why I'm asking.

Hmm, maybe it was a bit more than 4-5 ounces because the 107g, almost 4 ounces, only fills up about half of this half gallon jar. The last jar was just about full.

The main difference between psilocybin and psilocin is their relative stabilities...psilocin is much more easily oxidized, so deteriorates much more quickly than psilocybin. I've experimented with short term alcohol extracts..A one hour room temp extract will only grab about 20% of the goods ime..Heating the alcohol will work faster but still produce limited results in that short time period..
Also ,once dried down - the resulting tar is very unstable and will weaken with time..
I have only worked with Everclear though ,so your results may vary..

Yah Ive done it but if u put it in the freezer the decay of the material decrease significantly of course tho I ground mine up in a coffee grinder then add the solvent (alcohol) let evaporation accure filter it then alcohol again on the remains filtered evaporate and add to last batch and transferr to a jar then to a freezer till use..but always unused material back to freezer.

Could be, but again, the material was not all clean, there was verm and bits of other stuff... Really not sure.

How fast or a breakdown/degredation are we talking? A week? Month? Couple hours? A day?

At room temp i would guess that by day 7 ,half or more of the potency is lost...
Freezing the goo should help alot but have no idea how much...

If the tar extraction was a viable method, i think it would be quite popular...

I like to let my cool everclear sit for about 6 weeks. I guess I wait too long

Results, nadda Sorta suprising, but then again not really. Wasn't sure what to expect though. .6 eaten, no fx.

So, will try again with something. I hear that vinegar is the thing to use to really get the psilo out...

7 days??? whoa... dat is quick.

Just from what I understand about doing cold alcohol extracts is you've got to let the maceration sit for 1 week, shaking periodiclly, in the case of what you're doing I'd put your shrooms in a jar and keep it in the fridge taking it out to shake periodiclly through out the day every day for a week, then strain, add more alcohol to the mac, and shake it up through out the day, goto bed wake up strain and do it once more for about an hour, then iyou got it all

Haha dry it properly and EAT IT! haha little at a time, with yer pinkie nail, U'll taste how active it is, bitterness etc.. My FOAF made some and it got forgotten about on top of a cupboard. months later, got scraped up and eaten by many freinds who fuckin tripped balls

Then grow some crystals and snort em not what U'd expect tho foaf says... haha

that stuff'd make a mean liquer, enough i mean for a bottle (100g)...My foaf says 4 warm washes, first one a long 2 week soak before, with everclear Use a turkey baster to separate out alc from sediments as they settle out and first filter when alc is still warm. U can see if/how your last wash is active with a UV light and do another one 4 the last goodies if U like. Combine all washes, evap to a 1/3 of a bottle (collecting some crystal growths for plattime later and then top up the bottle with flavoured vodka or schnapps of your choice to make palatable. Grapefruit schnapps is nice for half the top up, sure the acidity helps too.
