Homemade Cinnamon Candy

If you love hard candy .You would love homemade hard candy. Cinnamon hard candy is what we will be making today.I decided to post it here so others can see how easy it Is.It's good Christmas gifts and great to have around the house also..

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 cup karo
cinnamon extract
red food coloring

First we are going to slow boil the water,sugar and Karo.What we are trying to is get the ingredients to the hard crack stage.I would probably be much easier with a candy thermometer.I just judge mine by myself by.1. The look of the candy.2.By using a small spoon Place a small amount into a glass of ice water.If its at the hard crack stage the candy will snap. If not is just goo.

Notice how yellow and how much thicker it has become..

Amost time for the HARD CRACK test.

When the HARD CRACK is a success.
Add 1/4 tsp Red food color

At this time you are also going to add you Cinnamon Extract...I like mine at 1/2 tsp Which is strong. For just reg cinnamon candy only use 1/4 tsp.

The house smells wonderful. Now I let It cool.In the picture it is hot.I have been makeing candy for years I got inspired to to so when I was a kid.I would go to a friends house an you could smell the candy my buddys mom was in there cooking outside HA HA..They have a wide variety of extracts now.I use to have to get cinnamon extract from the pharmacy (NO SHIT!) but recently i have seen cinnamon, watermelon, strawberry,Etc and dont forget this is how ya make butterscotch Too.Wait until I bust the candy up.It looks great in Homemade fashion.

There ya go.Fresh cinnamon hard candy.Its good candy. If I wasn't a diabetic I would eat the whole tray.

I could make a batch up for trades an such tho. If there was some interests.

They are as spicy as you make them.By adding the cinnamon extract.

I remember my mom making this when I was a kid. One time just after she poured the steaming cinnamen liquid out of the pot into the cookie sheet it smelled so good I put my face right down into the plume of steam to get a highly concentrated wiff. Bad idea! My nasal passages felt like they had been set on fire! LOL, Story still gets told at family gatherings.

Kick ass Mononukeleosis.I'm glad it worked out for ya.The candy is bad ass.Did you make it hot as hell or just a bit warm?The scent it puts off while making is wonderful.I'm glad others have tried the recipe as well.

The tinctures is a good idea.What i want to do is make butterscotch with cannabutter instead of regular butter.It would be easy to do since its the same as making any other hard candy..I hope to make some by the end of the year.
