    Need help on edible ID [THAILAND]

    these were found in my front lawn, the locals here called them honey mushroom and its quite prized to the palette.
    i've already started clones on MEA
    Does any know what it could possibly be?

    Hey Jim, that's a nice one, the honey mushroom I know is quite different (Armillariella mellea). does the cap open anyfurther? it looks you picked them early. how about spore print color? is that a browning reaction at the base? does the base have a volva? answers to these questions can help tremendously in identification. GL.

    the print looks white and the gills are too, there are no sign of a volva, does turn a tad brown at the point to detachment but that could be just brusing..it will open just a bit more but not much..actually i don't know. the villagers picks them before that stage..lol

    They certainly don't look like normal honey mushrooms...what village are you in, some exotic country? They might not exist in north america.

    lol, captain..you're right. they are translated to rhino foot mushroom. it's not the honey mushroom of north america.

    WOOT! after hours searching the web i found it! its called "Tricholoma giganteum Massee" a garden mushroom for this region and it's ranked as medical use in anti-tumor and other things.
