Hey, I am from SA. I've been around for some time absorbing the info here. I am still getting everything I need together - I will only start growing in May or June so I won't be able to contribute too much for a while. It's great to see South Africans here. I am planning a trip to the Transkei when the rains come, I hope I'll be able to contribute something then. It would be great to pick up a local strain from the wild.

the clothing optional beaches are in cape town - so is the wine plus a perfect nursery for cacti is there, the ganja and the fungus is in the transkeii, it seems everyone grows poppies in pretoria. Durban also has some potent green and is a very chilled place. a road-trip(the driving kind) is essential here

Hello in SA! I am stuck here in the states for a long time to come, with 4 kids travel isn't an option. I am a djembe player that is looking to get a new authentic hand carved djembe from SA I have one that I absolutely love. Nothing sounds as good as a true twenoba wood drum. I am wondering if anybody that lives in the area would be willing to sell me/ carve/ whatever another one. I won't buy off of the internet direct because I don't trust that they are truly authentic not to mention I want the money to go to the artist not the middle man. Throw me some prices or trade items or whatnot and we will see what happens. I really would like to be able to talk to the artist, or at least know a little about him/her as I feel a person can appreciate something special like a djembe that much more if you can say you have met/talked to the artisian. Anyway any help in this matter is appreciated!

those mushies taste really nice - there are a few spp of them - the most common is the ikowa - found on termite hills after rains. no natalensis yet - still hunting for that one. how common is it and how close to the coast can it be found. |

Hi Phlux, I have copies of two articles sent to me by a friend in Hamburg, Germany who went to Natal buit was unable to find P. natalensis. They are stacked somewhere in a pile of old magazines which were put into storage a few years back when I split with my wife. I will see if I can find them. mycospora |

![]() ![]() | I had a hardtime finding these papers and they are not complete. 1. 1994: Integration journal. The first is by Jochen Gartz, Derek Reid, Mike Smith and Al Eicker. as far as I can tell, the information is from 1994. Locations for Psilocybe Natelensis. Odor similar to other bluing species of Psilocybe. Habitat: Scattered in fertilized rich soil in pastures, not on animal dung. January. Known only from the type locality. Studied materials, Natal, between Volksrust and Bristol at O'Neil's Cottage (Temperate zone, 1500 m height). specimens gathered at this site are deposited in the herbarium of the University of Leipzig (LZ) and the National Collection of Fungi in Pretoria (PREM). They are a large bluing species of Psilocybe, not hygrophanous and have viscid deep brown caps when moist. In drying they fade to a whitish color similar to slightly to the whitish straw color of Psilocybe cyanescens and many other species. [O'Neil's Cottage: altitude: 1500 m, latitude 27 degrees 30'S. Longitude 29 degrees51'E, mean annual temperature: 17 degrees C, mean annual precipitation 917 mm, mean daily minimum temp. coldest month: 1,4 degreesC, absolute minimum -10 degrees C. It is clear that there are a lot of locations in South Africa which should have very similar climates and P. natalensis should therefore be widespread, although as we found, not popping up all the time. In contrast tothe Psilocybe cyanescens-complex which grow in the late fall expecially after a shorty freezing we foound Psilocybe natalensis in pasture at temperature over 30 degrees C in the full sunlight. The black people from the Aulu tribe who live near O'Neil's Cottage are not aware of the psychoactive action of the mushrooms and don't eat mushrooms at all. 2. 1999: Mycotaxon Habitat: On an irrigated lawn, Hlalanathi Drakensberg Resort, Royal Natal National Park, Bergsville District, 25 March 1998. ORUM 3920. It was there in a visit to the Hlalanathi Drankensberg Resort at the Royal natal National park in march of 1998 that specimens of an ivory-white Psilocybe were collected, which, after a short interval of time, exhibited a blue-green cruising at the base of the stem when handled. This new sighting was approimately 250 km from the original locality, both collections from Gartz et al., 1994, and this one from Reid and Eicker, 1999 were both found in KwaZula-Natal Drakensberg range 250 km form O'Neil's cottage in the same KwaZulu-Natal region. mycospora. I hope this helps you. Season is listed as in january. |

Howzit Bru's & Chinas, Just a friendly high from a noob here in Plumstead. In my imagination, I just innoculated 12 PF Tek jars with Thai P Cube spores that I did not buy from a head shop in Amsterdam that I'm quite prepared to swear I never visited. If my imaginary plants produce imaginary fruit, I'm hypothetically prepared to dream exchange.
