This is my first post and I need help: SCOTLAND / UK

Hello to everyone who may read this.
Im new to this site but not new to the culture.
I live in Scotland. We have a good picking season in Aug/Sept and most times I'm sorted for most of the year but as anyone knows stored shrooms lose there strengh after a while and they taste like the field they came from somthing that seems to taste worse each year. I did buy a mushroom kit once a few years ago and got a very good result but never bought one again because we get loads when the season is in and I grudge paying for somthing that I can get for free.
This season (2007) I only went out once and got enough for me and my mates but again the taste was rank. I remeber from the kit you could eat the shrooms no problem.
I never knew till just last month that the British (bastards) Govenment had change the law so you can't buy the kits or spores anymore.
Its not the kit I want anymore I fancy a shot at growing them myself, I have books and videos on how to grow them and I even bought a load of stuff for making up culture jars etc a few years ago that I never got round to but I still have every thing apart from SPORES. Now I want to get into growing my own but do not know where I can get spores from, it has to be somone who will post to Scotland in a safe manner. My fear is I order spores from overseas they get checked at customs and next thing I know I have the drug squad at my door. I have Peyote, San Pedro and now and then the odd bit of green growing in my house and they have been doing so for years with no problems.
This is the reason I have joined this site in the hope that some of you kind people get tell me where I can get spores no problem to my house in Scotland.
Also can anyone tell me what are the best spores to get from thier own growing experience?

There are many ways to get spores. If it is illegal to ship to you then why not try getting spores from the wild or culture the inner flesh of a fresh mushie. Nobody will help in open illegal stuff. But if you have any questions about growing them we can help you out. Check out the vaults/archives, tons of info.

I couldn't find anywhere on the net that stated the legality of spores in Scotland..But I did find this site. On the main page they mentioned knowing of reliable spore vendors in your neck of the woods.

Dunno, i'm from Scotland and the semis don't really lose much potency when dry IME. But as for spore vendors, many of them will in fact ship to Scotland. Mycology purposes etc.

The spores are not illegal in the uk.

However, I would not order spore syringes. They would get opened. A plain envelope with a spore print in it is usually very easy as personal mail is not looked at. Unless you are on a terror watch list which I doubt.


The mushrooms,which I noted would be banned years ago, was the result of greedy vendors growing and selling openly to the public. Before the law was created, it was legal to pick the p mushrooms throughout the UK.

So basically you should blame the greedy people who were charging as much as 25pounds per dose and up for the law, and for the few who accidentally died while on shrooms, thus causing more animosity about them.

I live in the UK and I have ordered syringes from vendors in the UK (if you want the web sites pm me, they are not sponsors here) I have never had any problems with them.
If you dry and freeze your shrooms they will keeps for years, there are many other methods of preservation.
Shame that the good old days are gone when I would pop down to the shops and pick up a bag of shrooms.

Never under any set of circumstances should you freeze your mushrooms. this is the worst thing you could ever do to them.

Keep them completely dry and away from light and heat,

i think he means place in freeze AFTER drying.
of course freezing freshies will turn them into black goo upon thawing
so another option is make 'magic' ice cubes with freshie tea frozen.

now remember if you store frozen dried shrooms
bringing cold shrooms into warm air will cause condensation
getting the shrooms damp-
so best to leave bag sealed until warms up to room temp
before opening
if you aren't using up the entire bag right then
and wish to place un-used portion back in freezer.

I dry them, grind them, cap them then freeze them. To take them I swallow them straight from the freezer.
