Karo Questions

Hey all. Finally got my hands on Karo Light (clear one) and about to make up some jars but I have a few questions.
1. I am having to use some small jelly jars that hold only 1 cup of water when filled to just below rim. How much would one suggest that I use? I have seen the ratios used on pints/ quarts but since I am using such smaller size is there a minimum amount that should be used, or keep the ratios the same?
2. I have been reading on using tyvek as a filter on the lid and have used this successfully on larger jars of diff types of LC. For this type of LC how important is gas exchange? Meaning how big should the holes be that are covered and should or can foil be used? I have a FOAF that has two LCs going that only have foil with no tyvek. What would you all suggest??

I use a 4-5% by volume ratio so you can use 5ml Karo to 100ml of Water.

I would suggest putting (2) 1/4" holes in a lid and filling them with silicon to make injection ports. Then I would make a airport syringe to pressurize the jars after PC'ing.

Thanks alot. I am 6 days in on two LC jars now and have really nice mycellium clouds forming all throughout. Looks really cool. Might post some pics.

Thanks livewire might put that one in my next batches. I was wondering though, my LC jars are now at one week and have about pea sized clouds forming throughout. When is the best time to use for inoculation, they are Karo LC. Or I guess I should ask how long is too long and what to look for to know when they are good to shoot.

give it a week or so let it get kinda thick. shake or swirl everyday. fresh exchange very important.
