Some interesting mushies from kozi bay - near the mozambique border of south africa

i hope someone nominates me for picture of the month here - i know these probably arent active but there are some beautifull pix here. Strangest thing is lots of these were growing out of beach sand. btw the 2 stink horns were really potent .
Pix from Kozi bay and Ndumo Nature Reserve - the pink and white flower is impala lilly - adenum multiflorum and the big big ones are 2 spp of stapelia (gigantea and leedermansii - i think) they stink - common names are giant carrion flower and aas-blom(arse-flower in afriakaans)

see those lil pink dudes/dudettes with the gills so far apart - they were everywhere like at least 1-200 per meter squared.
i think there are 1 or 2 that are growing out of hippo chit - heh

I see an EarthY Star in there but the order of images is kinda confusing so here is a picture of Earthy Stars from the MJ Shroomer site.

I think that is what they are

Do not know other strains in your posting.

    Those pics are terrific!

Those little pink ones are Marasmius pulcherripes, a type of pinwheel mushroom.

yeah those earth stars are great

those earth stars are soooo groovy, when u poke the middle bulbous part with a blade of grass it just puffs out spores in a little cloud - the best footage of this i have seen is on a david attenbourogh documentary called the secret life of plants - i have the double dvd of that and it is my favorite.

    cactus flowers

those are not cactus flowers - south africa has only 1 indigenous cactus spp - it is epiphytic and is called rhipsalis if i remember corrrectly - it is a a succulent called stapelia - its either gigantea or leedermansii i think - the stapeliads are amazing - google them - : stapeliads (stapelia, huernia, orbea, etc...) there were some nice caudiciforms too.
oh yeah i think all stapeliads smell like carrion, one of them has a name in the local afrikaans language - plaatsfoetassblom meaning plate-footed-ass-flower.
