    The Cubes of Koh Samui

Well I have found most of the shrooms here in the fields of Ban Hua Thanon. While this is a large area, the rice paddies border several of the areas where I pick around the sw region of the Island.

Here the farmers are getting ready to plant rice. Many buffalo are scattered around at different areas of this large field and some farmers now use the Iron buffalo to plow their fields.

However, this particular part of Ban Hua Thanon was plowed by both grey and pink Buffalo.
The first iamge is of an area where the earth has been churned and plowed over, although grass was growing in this field.

A day of rain and here I am holding two specimens of a new species. However,t he field came out and the shrooms blurred. This is to show you what the fields looked like where I found a lot of cubes.

As you can see in these next 8 pictures, the cubes pop up in the cul de sacs of the plowed areas where the eath has been turned over and there was manure.

This is a good sign to hunt for the cubes one loves so much.

Here are five more images of fresh growing cubes. It is very hot and I am not finding a lot of other shrooms as I usually do due to the extreme hot weather.

Now Here are three trays of collected cubes from different areas.

I always use these trays for collectiong and have different colored trays to represent different fields or locations or different shrooms.

Here are 8 images of preparing to dry several mushrooms from different fields and different days.

I lay them out, then decap them, and then lay the stems on paper in the sun to dry and and then make prints from the caps.

And here is one image of some of the cap which ae used to make spore prints for the academic market.
