By Valentina Pavlovna Wasson. A personal account of her and her 17-year-old daughter Masha becoming the first persons to be given magic mushrooms outside of an Indian ceremonial setting. What one might refer to as the first turn on to mushrooms by R. Gordon Wasson, the first Westerner who became the first white man to be given mushrooms in a ceremonial setting with photographer Alan Richardson. From a 1957 issue of This Week magazine in the local Sunday newspaper suplement. http://www.mushroomjohn.org/iate1.htm mjshroomer |

Imagine trying to explain the experience to someone unwilling to listen, then being shunned as some kind of kook talking like a crazy loon...then being chastised for partaking in primitive rituals and turning their backs on Jesus! I am not familiar with the folks in the story, just the Old familiar story, which was mostly told in whispers. The few articles that did make the papers, were quickly washed squashed and Kabaoshed at every opportune moment by the Church and by the State. For most Americans experiencing the old Custom abroad, they learned to keep the experience to them selves. For some it changed them on the inside and outside their lives changed forever (It did me). Unfortunately, those who equated their experience as to feel or touch or to have been with God...were exorcized quite well they were, I might add. It didn't work though, it never does when dealing with a strong will, as they we're content to go back with the heathens leaving everything worldly behind them, everything that is...but their faith in God. I knew I was in a place of God, as I stood in the heavens for a moment I touched a face... feeling love I returned to my bed. I love black and whites. the movies not the cars. -j-

ya, readThought it was interesting how they talked about the divine mushroom being used as a "postal system" in the indian village. where a person goes to the shaman to inquire about the welfare of a friend or relative in a distant area and the shaman ingests the mushroom then delivers reports on them. |
