Thumbs up Rehydrating bulk projects

How do you rehydrate your bulk projects? Misting? Dunking? Nothing?

What I have in mind is a large rubber made container in which colonized popcorn was spawned into a mixture of worm poo, cotton burr compost, and verm.

I've tried dunking a large cased subtrate once but it inevitably broke apart when trying to drain the water. I aint doing that again....such heartbreak!

I'm a dunker, nothing you can do will rehydrate your sub better than a good o'le dunk.
With care you can dunk large projects without breakage.
Now that you know it was fragile after the dunk, I'm sure you'd be a little more carefull the next time.

one other thing i didnt like about the dunk: the nutrients that are sucked from the substrate when dumping the water are wasted.

that would only be a problem
if nutes were in short supply
but i've never seen nutes run out
before mold set in anyway.

I think what he's saying is that your project will contaminate before it runs out of nutrients. My understanding is that most substrates contain well beyond a lifetime supply of nutrients for the fungus.

Old weakened mycelium = contams
There are plenty of nutes for multiple flushes.

thanks for the clarification. seems like common sense to me.

however, one thing still bugs me. how do we know the nutes that are leeched from a dunk, while maybe not absolutely necessary for future fruits, will not diminish them in terms of gross weight?
