![]() | Plans for first grow - any changes?
first post here, such a great site ![]() Things i have so far: -12 1/2 pint jars -verm. -perlite -peat moss -brown rice flour -foam cooler w/ clear window -ecuador syringe coming in the mail so heres the plan so far. boil(dont have pressure cooker) verm+BRF, innoculate 12 jars. fill cooler with cakes (holds about 6) perlite for humidity. put any left over survivors in 1 pint jars invitro. now my questios are, the cooler is 1 X 1.5 ft. inner dimensions. shold i just go with a casing? if so, how many 1/2 pint jars would be needed to properly fill a 1X1.5 ft pan? if cased, should perlite still be used outside the pan in the chamber? casing layer of 50/50 verm and peat moss should work right? is there any better way to fruit the left overs besides invitro in a larger jar(besides another FC of course, i live in very small room lol) sample pics: EDIT: Pics re-hosted ![]() ![]() |

"-foam cooler w/ clear window" hahathanks tho with the staked cakes + vermiculite, would the end yield be fully twice as much? seems like the one on the bottom wouldnt make as much as normal? deffinatly a good alternative though |

No reason why the bottom one wouldn't do just as well as the top. Check this out http://forums.mycotopia.net/showthread.php?t=5360 (double stacked cambo cakes) |

I would advise you to go with cakes on your first try. Obviously you could get a much larger yield with a casing, but casings take experience and are more easily contaminated than cakes and really easy to screw up. Cakes will give you a general understanding of the conditions mushies need to prosper; then move on to casings or bulk substrates. GL.
