advice for 1st Pan Cyans Attempt

Looking for the simplest most foolproof method for 1st indoor patch of viet pan cyans. mastered cake and bulk straw methods regarding cubes. really only have 1/2 pint kerr jars at disposal. plenty of horse poo, lime, brf, straw, verm, etc.... looking for simple simple...

had dream i was told that i must use waylits pan. tek with a minor modifcation, wich is intead of just plane brf i would ad the brf mixtue that is made in hippies cakes, with its nutritional yeast ,flax seed, coconut, bee pollen,cornmeal, and i like the sea weed extract idea too, when this dreams become reality i will have real pictures. so when the dog gets off his butt and gives me somthing to photograph i will post.

are 1/2 pint kerrs a reasonable substitution for the waylit tek?

Any size container can be used.

The substrate is the important part, not the container.

I used waylits tek and 5 jars of Jams are cased and in the fruiting chamber now and have been for almost almost 4 days...

this Fri will be 3 weeks in the incubator and i think the Goliath lack about another week.."fuckers"

If using spores at inoculation, how much should be used. Some reason I get the impression that more are necessary than with the cube pftek. Is this true? Or could ten jars be inoculated with 10cc?

Yes, if you're using half pint jars and the syringe was properly made.

But it really depends. Some syringes I've gotten in the past were really lacking in spores. I used 2 ccs per jar and only 2 of the 6 jars showed any growth! That's unacceptable for the price of a syringe.

I did a test with another syringe from the same order. Vendors, here's how you know if you are making good syringes. Put one drop of spore solution on agar, you should see good healthy growth from that one drop. If you don't, you're diluting your syringes too much. You can't expect everyone to use ultra sonic spore dispersal.

Waylit, questions keep arising regarding your tek and I'll try to not bother you with them one at a time. So here's a list that should cover it.
First, the plastic jars you use; are these pints or half? If they're pints then this recipe should fill twice the 1/2 pint jars. yes?
If using regular glass 1/2 pints w/ metal, two piece lids, the tyvek method is going to be difficult. Would the oxygen exchange with tapeless, four holed, loose lids be sufficiant?
When mixing the verm and brf, "field capacity" would be wet enough that only a few drops expell with a serious squeeze, yes?
With the casing, what ratio of lime and gypsum to the casing material should be used? Is gypsum totally necessary?
When pasturizing your casing for an hour, do you use an oven method or just 160 degree water? Should more lime added if using the latter?
Lastly, what causes the fruit to grow only out of the mouth of the jar? With the complete surface of the substrate exposed to light, don't they want to grow in any which direction?

The containers I used are 3/4 Quart.

Holes are fine, no need to use loose lids.

You don't have to use gypsum. When doing a hot water bath, it's not that important how much lime you use. It gets diluted in the bath. Tsp per jar on avg.

I use a hot water bath at 160F.

Pans don't really fruit on the sides like cubensis, so you don't need to black out the sides.

If you plan on fruiting from the jar, use a 1/2 pint.

If you plan on crumbling the cake into a tray, use a pint.

just remember to leave enough room

in the top of the jar for casing

as i did not and had no choice but to

case out of the jar... just a fyi
