yes. that is how they are typically done. just dont shake the jars to speed colonization as i understand it the mycellium sometimes does not fully recover. Pan. cyan. grown on whole grain need a bulk substrate to fruit. poo, straw,or both. *if you look at waylitjim's pan cyan tek, he has a modified pf tek mix for Pans, which contains poo in the jar with brf, etc. so no spawning is neccesary. they can even be cased right in the jar! worth checking out ![]() good luck |

Waylits method has definately been checked out and quite appreciated. Though if using whole grains, which grain will work best? Would popcorn be a suitable grain? And would the exact popcorn/cube method work for pans? And using straight straw as in skypilots method do the trick? Basically, could every process be duplicated to turn pan spores into pan fruits using a whole grain method utilizing skypilots log tek? You did mention shaking is not advisable. Does that mean not a single shake during the whole colonization process? Any variences between the methods regarding pans and cubes would be quite pleasing. Thanks...

im new to them also, so take my advice with a grain of salt... cubs prefer a shallower substrate than pans, and a bit warmer temps. so look into things like seven's trays if u wanna go straight straw. the log could possibly work, but again id stick to what's proven to work for this species. that is, if you want a few caps this first time around to collect prints. if you dont care and want to experiment at the risk of losing your project, that's up to you friend ![]() tons more information in the archves/vaults. 'exotics' section to be exact good luck

Most of the time Pan mycelia will survive a shake, , If you inject more spores to begin with and shake well ,you should have enough distributed growth - that further shaking is not needed... A Pan straw log would be highly experimental -they like to have a casing layer... They are exactly the same as cubes untill u spawn em..After that ,they get a bit more fussy ...So Popcorn ,Rye ,WBS, Wheat, ect. all work fine... |
