Hippie3's Bulk PF Style Substrate

Anybody got experience with H3's Bulk PF Style Substrate? I want to make just one jar for right now.

Hip maybe you will see this and be able to say.

1 half pint jar = add 1/6 cup water? or is that too little or too much?

In H3's Recipe he adds 2 Tbs of liquid kelp extract to a gallon of water. I am assuming this is like any extract an alchohol base????

For that small of an amount (1 jar) I'd just use the squeeze test - I look for - squeeze the substrate lightly and get a few drops, squeeze hard and get a little trickle. Thats how much water you need. I wouldn't trust a measuring cup for that small amount.

On the kelp extract, I couldn't tell you how its extracted. I have used powdered kelp (sold as a salt substitute) but just a pinch.

Ok...then the question remains...is the kelp already in the substrate? Bcause the bag says to just add water??

the bag isn't really formulated to make single jars, you'll need to eyeball it.
there's no kelp in the dry mix, just in the ready made jars.
