1st Print!! Concerns with color of print. Plz Hlp

So I made my first spore print onto foil last night. For the next couple of days it will be drying...I am concerned about the color of the spores! I probably shouldn't worry, But...

The print is geourgouse (sp) but the color of it is brown?? I was expecting a blue print.

These mushrooms grown in the pf tek method are PF Classics.

any body know if this is a safe mushroom to eat? I think it should be but one can't be to careful.

I guess I was just expecting a blue print. Do they change color when they dry? Or do they look brown becuase they are on foil?

this was the biggest and healthiest and first mushroom

cap is about 2" diameter and stem is about 5-6 inches long ... Nice and big and fat.

I decapitated it about 2 hours later

    These are its cousins.

It's fine. they are never blue but they do range from a chocolatish brown to a deep purple color. It is definitely a cube.

Sure you didn't get the PF Red Spore...looks almost brown. One hint when dealing with any PF shroom is to let the cap open more than what you have there. PF shrooms are late sporulators and usual drop thier best prints when the cap is fully open and sometimes even wavy.

    Thanx dial8 and tco...

The print is a nice chocolate brown...very nice looking...I will get a picture of it when I can...right now i wouldn't be able to get a good picture.

tco...I have another flush coming in on a nother cake. They look like they are going to be huge like the first ones did...I will make another print of that one but I will wait untill the cap is more matured before cutting its head off. (shhh don't let them know)

I think that I should probably auction off the print as a donation to mycotopia.

I will start a new thread when the time comes.

    Thanx People

oh yeah and here is a little porn for ya I just know harvested em

Nice looking harvest there Sky ..Usually the edge of the print shows the most purple coloring - where the spore layer is thin...

yea spores are usually a purply color thats so thick it looks black or brown. kind of like how when black markers bleed in water they are really just really dark purple.

its good to leave the caps you plan to print for a day or to later after you pick all the rest. best time to print is right when they start getting the dark colors on thier stems (from the spores starting to drop) kind of obvious but yea.

    Those look nice sky.

Here's an example of the PF Red Spore vs a purple print. The purple one is very light in color cuz it's one of my albino cross experiments (i think it was matias). Usually the PFC lays a much darker print.
