Hello All, Another wanderer from shroomery here. I have a quick question. I am just gettiing back into growing after being away for a while. I started with fresh syringes since I was not positive about the quality of my year old spores. I am doing the standard PF tek, I feel my mix was a bit dry and the vemiculite I used just kept absorbing whatever water I put in. The growth after 5 days looks good but is a bit transparent. will I get full colonization or should I take the jars that are starting extremely slow and redo them. How long should I wait for good growth? Thanks in advance goodenz |

Sorry for the double post my pc froze, (im running vista) go figure. Hello all, Another visitor from shroomery here. I have a quick question I am returning to growing after a long break I used new syrynges and started 12 jars using the PF tek, The mix seemed a bit dry to me at the time I added extra water but it seemed as if the vermiculite I had would soak everything I threw at it up. After 5 days the small growth that I have is a bit transparent and not as stark white as I am used to. How long should I wait before I take the jars that have not started growing and redo them? My temps are good BTW. Thanks goodenz Last edited by goodenz; 12-27-06 at 20:29. Reason: Double Post |

Hey, GoodEnz, I'm just getting back into growing too, after 18 years. Back then we only had agar and grain. There weren't any syringes or PF Teks. I'm into two batches now and I too thought the substrate seemed dry but I decided to just keep the faith and follow the TEK. Mine took 5-7 days at 80 degrees just to show the earliest signs of germination but now at two weeks the growth is quite thick and rhizomorphic. I would say wait at least another week or two.
