First, the bad part - I think I made a big mistake. I went today to my fridge to retrieve the extra syringes from my fridge to start a few more growbags... and they weren't there. In a case of extreme stupidity, I had left them in the package I had recieved them in. The attached picture shows what all 3 of them look like now, and I believe that is dead mycellium I see in the syringe. Are the contents of the syringes good for anything at all anymore? However, thanks to hippie's special last month, I had recieved 2 LC jars and innoculated them (i believe that is the right word). Today I noticed mycellium in them for the first time - I'd take a picture but my cell phone would not provide enough quality. Should I use them now or let them grow until the growth is larger? |

![]() | My Pan Cyan spore syringes also looked like this
I sent for and received a 10 ml spore syringe that looked just like this and I was worried, being a newcommer to the hobby. About a week ago I innoculated two quart ziplocks containing brown rice flour, vermiculite and horse poo and the other concern I had was with how well I shook the syringe and thinking that since I may not have shook it enough. This being that my innoculation into the first container seemed to exhaust the syringe of all the black looking goo. Lo and behold when I checked the incubating containers today I saw evidence of mycelium in both containers, one having more myc forming than the other. If my experience is any indication you may be OK. I would suggest to go ahead and start out some containers using the appropriate Tek and see what happens. I was pleasantly supprised. Oh boy am I learning as I go in this new hobby for me. Sure is exciting. Peace from an old hippie. |

I'm no pro but I have seen syringes sort of like that before and nothing was wrong. It just so happened that fresh spores were used in the making of the syringes and they for some odd reason started to germinate inside of course only to a certain point hense the lack of nutrients. Hope this helps

yeah, see premie germination fairly often, workman mentioned once that he thought just movement was enough to trigger it, i suspect that temperature swings like one gets while travelling thru the mail system from inside to outside, in the truck, in the mailbox, etc. often does the same. such are better used quickly as the myc. won't last forever in a syringe with no food or air.
