Saving PC'd jars to innoculate later

Just wondering, how long can PC'd jars set before innoculating ? I have waited up to two days a couple of times because of lack of time, but have never considered waiting any longer in fear of contamination. But I was wondering if I could go longer (maybe a week or better). Any ideas on this would be great...

Yes, BRF cakes. The plan was to make some up in advance to avoid spending a couple of days fairly constant PC'ing and cooling.

with popcorn jars foaf uses press and seal on the lids and places them in the fridge

I never like to wait more than enough time to let the jars/substrate cool down. The less time you wait the better chance your mycelia can stay ahead of contams.

I have waited for 3 days before with no ill results, but I don't like to if I can help it.

I would have to agree. My FOAF very much prefers to go straight from the PC (after 24hrs cooling) to inoculation. It is just safer.
