![]() | Manure, Anti-fungal cow feed additives
The additives that are put in some cow feeds, does that not allow germination of spores on shit, but does allow for mycellium growth?? I have no way of telling if what I am using has the anti-fungal additive or not, but I was wondering if it would matter if I cased with it...

Foaf has seen manure as well as grass seed with "Fungus Protection" used with no detriment as a substrate, however Depending on the exact additive and it's concentration, your mileage may vary I don't know if these additives prevent germination or inhibit growth, sorry |

I'm not sure either but if they claim to prevent germination and you plan to case with it, well then your spores are already germinated. but id be sorta' weirded out 'bout eatin' chemicals like that. Who knows though, I may have ingested them already and not known. |

The chemical(s) may not even be active after treatment. Wow. What a horrible thing. They are feeding cows (and possibly us) unnecessary chemicals? Why?

It seems like an awful long way to go so a few hippy folk won't trespass. And an extra expense. Stupid. The only harm that can come to a farmers ground from people picking mushrooms would be if a bull is out. And then the harm is definitely going to come to the picker- not the farmer. I understand that farmers don't want people on their land. I get that. But this is a bit too much for my taste.
