![]() ![]() ![]() | Does freezing kill trich spores? Does freezing kill trich spores?I have a tub that contained an infected sub that I left outside since fall. It's been well below freezing here for several weeks and now I need the tub for new projects. I mean I intend to clean the tub and perlite well with bleach, but to do that I have to bring it indoors. I'm hoping that any remaining trich spores will be dead. Just wondering...

![]() | I don't think freezing temps kill Trich, since it grows on my firewood all winter. It is always around, and if anything the spores are likely to be more hardy than the mycelium. That pic looks just like my backdoor scene, with old projects covered in snow. I've re-used tubs like that many times, just discarding the old mess and trying to rinse it out as well as possible before bringing it inside. Since the garden hose is all frozen at this time of year, I'd bring out some warm soapy water for a rinse, and spray the insides with 10% bleach before bringing it inside. Then do a full bleach rinse again and it should be fine. I seem to always need a rinse/bleach dip tub on the go, so I rotate my tubs with each getting a turn being the rinse station. Then they get used for almost every other aspect of growing. Amazing how useful those clear plastic totes are, really. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | well if it did, they would definitely be dead in that. Dang trout I think you need some snow. Yeah the fire wood. I have never notice so much mold on wood until after starting this hobby. Every time I see a piece of wood with mold on it I don't want use it in the fire place. haha |
