Poo water??

Whenever you pasteurize hpoo/straw, you're left with some water high in nutes. I've been saving it for whatever reason and I had a thought: What would happen if we used this manure water to dunk in between flushes? Has this ever been tried? Is it worth a try or is it asking for trouble? I put the water to use 1 time and I don't care for the results so far. I was making WBS jars and used the manure water for my soak. Germination time was slow as is colonization. I innoc'd on 3/1 and today is 3/21. The jar is 95% now. Maybe it'll be worth the wait come fruiting time.

I was wondering about using poo water also. I just started an experiment that was gleamed from pieces in the vaults. I took popcorn that was soaked and halfway through the 60 minute simmer (I did this because I was baked and suddenly rembered lol) and moved some corn to a pot of pasturized poo soak water. I finished the simmer of the corn in poo soak water and let it sit there a bit. Then rinsed/drained as usual.

I took the poo water simmered popcorn and added it on top of freshly pasturized, cooled goat poo and straw plus a bit of vermiculite. The idea is from the venarable Banzai Institute...

Here's what it looks like. I did a grain 2 grain transfer of some SA popcorn to these jars and then rolled them around. This pic was last night. Tonight the popcorn is spreading into the slightly brown poo-popcorn.

Good thread, cheers

I'm glad to see somebody else is trying this. I hope it goes faster for you than it is for me. At the rate mine is going, it might be another 5 days to get that last 5%. Keep us updated.

I soaked some coir in straw-soup for bulk.

Did just put a tub in the fruiting chamber. Made the casing alittle too thick so
don't think I'll have the best pinset as it only had coloniezd a spot on the surface.
But too afraid of contamination. Still have a tub incubating thou

Same here Arp. I have made a few different nutritious subs by soaking dry products in poo leeching water. Expanding coir in poo water, pasturizing straw or shredded mulch in the H2-poo.

Thumbs up

Yep, My last several cubes and pans were just spawn and verm. The verm was soaked in the pasteurixed poo water to hydrate. I tried this with 2 trays created from a single halfpint of rye spawn, which were on their 6th and 7th flush. They were dunked in the refrigerated, previously pasteurized poo water(with a dash o lime) overnight. The last two flushes weren't any larger than the previous, so... I went ahead and added some some poo into the mix for the casing this round 8-9th flush.

Well, good. I'm glad I didn't save that poo water for nothing. Thank you all for all of your experiments. So many options, which one to try first? I have a Nepal casing that's due to be dunked. I'll try the "hpoo-dunk" tek on that. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm going to try the poo-in-the-casing mix too. Thanks, Foster!

The best use for the poo juice is to give it to something green!

I did just read in GGMM by Paul Stamets that when pasturizing straw you shouldnt use the same water for more than 3 times, else it tend to get toxic for the mushrooms

Update on poo-dunked Nepal

Well, I tried dunking my Nepal/Chitwan casing in poo water and I got hit by the dreaded cobweb mold. On a lighter note, the jar that had the wbs soaked in poo water, finally finished colonizing (25 days for 1/2 pint) and I cased it today. I didn't add anything special to the casing because I want to see if the water by itself has any affect on how it fruits.
