    Can I use verm right out of the bag to case with
    I'm going to use straight verm for my casing, can I use it right out of the bag & hydrate or do i have to pasturize that too?

    You can use vermiculite straight away, it isn't necessary to pasteurize it.

    Sometimes I wet my verm and microzap it for a few minutes, but it's also fine straight outta the bag.

    They are all right,but if you had some problems lately with contams,then better be on the safe side and microwave it first...(get it wet before microwaving) !

    I use tap water straight up, but boiling it prior can't hurt. I usually microwave the material 3-5 minutes.

    I also use plain tap water for my brf mix with no problems - the town I live in is too broke to add anything to our water.

    it's ONLY ok to use straight from
    a FRESHLY OPENED bag.
    once it's been open and set around awhile
    best to sterilize it before use.

    Thanks for all your help guys....I spawned to h-poo yesterday now I'm just waiting for that to fully colinize so I can put on the casing & wait for the magic to happen I hope.
