Its free sugar molecules make the brain function better since the brain is the largest consumer of sugar. Antibacterial and antifungal properties Honey contains many minerals and vitamins beneficial to man. However, one of the most important properties seems to be its antibiotic action. Honey has been shown to be superior to certain conventional antibiotics in treating some infections. This bactericide (bacteria-killing) property of honey is named "the inhibition effect" Digestion Because sugar molecules in honey can convert into other sugars (e.g. fructose to glucose), honey is easily digested by the most sensitive stomachs, despite its high acid content. It helps kidneys and intestines to function better. Hence honey is beneficial for maintaining a healthy digestive system as well as combating illnesses such as constipation. Blood Honey provides an important part of the energy needed by the body for blood formation. In addition, it helps in cleansing the blood. It has some positive effects in regulating and facilitating blood circulation. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Honey is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose and minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, iron and phosphate. It contains vitamins B1, B2, C, B6, B5 and B3 all of which change according to the qualities of the nectar and pollen. Besides the above, copper, iodine, and zinc exist in small quantities. |

yes and many people who have allergies to pollen found that eating a tspn of real honey every day for a season, when the next year came around their allergies were minimal if not gone. It seems to be able to creat an immunity cuz it is made from it instead of introducing the actuall problem to make antibodies....my uncle has hives and it is true cuz the whole time I lived there I didn't have allergies anymore...they came back three or four yrs later...guess I shouldn't have stopped hittin the honey. I think it is the best when it crystalizes and you can scoop hard chunks of honey that are the consistency of maple candies, which I also love...

Honey is amazing stuff for sure. Many of honey's beneficial properties, like the enzymes and vitamins and such that make it so good for so many things, are only present in raw honey. Once heated and filtered (like most brands on the shelf) much of the magic of honey is gone (or it's sold to you in a separate container for more money!). When I mix mushrooms into honey, I use the heated/filtered stuff because it has less flavor than good raw honey, and I found that strong-flavored honey mixes unpleasantly with the fungi taste (to me). While tripping and needing a boost, however, I grab a spoonful of Really Raw Honey (a brand name) which is so raw it sometimes still has a bee leg in it, and all the pollen, propolis, and royal jelly are still in it. It's all I use for energy on the trail when mountain biking; no nasty "power" bars for me, and it works better. Raw honey also makes road rash and such heal much faster with its antibacterial properties and by keeping the scabs flexible so they don't crack open (this can get messy, don't cover scabs w/ honey before bed, for example). |
