Check out the new vaults. I use a 60/40 verm./coir mix. I hydrate the verm. overnight then cook it @400*F for 30 min. (this is probably overkill but I hate losing projects to contams). Hydrate the coir (I boil water in the kettle and have a nice cuppa tea with what's left) and mix with the hydrated, cooked verm. Add about a tbsp. of hydrated lime for ph adjustment and nuke in a microwave safe container for 10 min. Leave in the microwave for 20 min. Nuke again for another 10 min. My strategy, when first starting, was to first search the archives. This stuff has all been covered by someone before and handily stored in the archives. Secondly, I gravitated toward posts or threads which Hippie3 had something to do with. Whether he posted 'em or just moved 'em to the archives from somewhere else-- I never went wrong using those teks. Good luck and have fun! |

70/30 coir/verm is my favorite casing mix. no lime needed. I just hydrate the coir with boiling water, add the verm and then nuke the whole mix in the microwave for a couple minutes. Then let cool.
