![]() | i have got a good idea just need answers to my questions
Ok i will state my questions first then show you all what my plan is. 1) Does mycelium require Oxygen to grow? 2) After you inoculate your substrate with spores and the mycelium starts to grow does the mycelium produce any gases? 3) If so, any kind of gases that would stall it from growing? Ex:CO2. I Know i can search for this one but I've already started this thread so, 4) Is CO2 heavier than oxygen, or can you displace CO2 with oxygen or just regular air? 5) Can you buy 3-7 Inch Needles for syringes? Ok my explanation. If my Questions are answered to what i hope they will be i am hoping to use the aquarium pump to pump in fresh air into many jars to remove any bad gases and and replace with good gases. I have been using this basic method to bubble my LC which seems to speed up the myceliums growth to a point but no matter what, i can only get it to grow so far in the LC with or without the bubbling of it so then i transfer it to the substrate. By using the polyfil in both the syringes you reduce the chances for contaminations and you equalize the pressure as to not blow up the jar. I have been bubbling my LC's for awhile and have never had a contam yet. So does anyone have any Questions for me or any tips. |

you gave us this thread- http://forums.mycotopia.net/liquid-c...rt-action.html (Bubbling your LC: airport in action) so you know the deal. as long as your needle is bubbling thru the liquid doesn't much matter if it's longer. you want dramatically better growth add a stir plate and stir bars. |

ha ha sorry i should have made it more clear this is not for LC it is for using in say a rye substrate. i am just wondering if i add more air or basically help exchange the air in the substrate more efficiently will the mycelium colonize faster? again i am sorry for not being more clear. |

only if the extra air is properly humidified first can you get by with that, the flow of air will dry the grains quickly. proly best not to attempt as only a very minimal amount of air exchange is needed, more will not improve growth/yield, etc. |
