![]() | Q? About Natural Water...
so im in the process of doing a lot of research and planning a big grow. im using mycotopia and fanaticus, trying to find the best info and sucessful methods :] ive heard that the water used makes a big difference; the more natural the better because of the minerals etc. i really want to try using water from a local stream. i know that everything gets sterilized during pressure cooking, but is there any risk of contamination through the water you use? i feel like its kind of a dumb question, but any thoughts/ experiences with using natural water sources?

there is absolutely no reason to bother with such superstitious beliefs. Tap water is fine, even better if you let the tap water sit in a bucket outside for an hour or two so the chlorine can "boil" off in the sun. If you want nutrients, ask around your garden center for compost tea but i wouldn't use it for anything other than hydrating a substrate - not dunking, not casing materials, not anything...not even soaking grains. I think people overdo it on amendments. |

nothing superstitious about this, you simply don't know of what you speak. many, including myself, know for a fact that lake/river water is better than tap, and you should know better than to speak of tapwater like it is all the same everywhere- such is not the case. might be ok where you are but here my tapwater has a ph of about 9-11 and DS of 1100-1400+ ppm.

pond/lake/stream water is without a doubt better than tap water. The proof is in the puddin Try a little experiment with both, and anyway experiments are always fun and the best way to learn IMO
