![]() ![]() ![]() | pans or cubes hi there, a foaf has a good deal of experience with casing cubes and wants to try his hand at pans (indoors), could someone give me a rundown of all the differences between pans and cubes? Pans: incubation temp? spawn temp? fruitng temp? fruiting RH? fae? everything? ive seen a a bunch of teks for growing pans but they all leave out the little details mentioned above, what is the best way to grow pans indoors? ps: ive seen Psilocybe cyanescens mentioned and also pan cyan, are they the same species or different?

![]() | Well psilo cyans are wood lovers, pan cyans are dung lovers. Pan cyans will do ok grown under same conditions as cubes. However a little tweeking of temps, fae and humidity may provide optimal growth and increase yields. As long as there is some poo in the mix. Ive never done em any differently than cubes and most of the time right next to em with no complaints. I keep it all as simple as possible. Hope this helps some peace, Foster |

![]() ![]() | Good advice there Foster. The only real difference between the two, Pans require manure or straw for fruiting. They won't fruit using with the PF tek. But add some manure, and off they go. Also, Pans won't fruit invitro, and they require slightly more FAE. |

In experiments not using the humidified air supply, fruitbodies were very tiny.........very tiny. Experiments using the humidified air supply 24/7 were dramatically larger (easily 10 times as large or larger). The benefit here is that you don't have to open the FC and expose the culture to airborne particles. Also eliminates misting which can damage promordia and pins. | |
