how long before fresh shrooms go bad

I got some fresh shrooms that i picked around a week ago and I kind of forgot about them they've been sitting out of light in a ziplock bag at room temp. They are kind of starting to smell a bit weird and are a bit slimy I planned on eating them tommorow but now I think ill just toss them unless they are still ok

If they are real slimy and brown, probably not a good idea. Next time keep them in a paper bag in the fridge, they'll last longer.

Depending on how bad you want to keep them, you might could try making tea. The boiling might kill the funk, save the actives, and be ok. That said, depending on what's growing on them it might not be ok. In fact, I think my default answer should just be "No" when someone asks "Should I eat this bag of decomposing decomposers?" and I can't look at it or smell it myself.

It's like the "3-second rule" when someone drops food on the floor. Some people's 3 seconds are much shorter than others, and we each must decide for ourselves how much funk we're willing to eat. As for me, it's not much. I've seen other people eat things I'm just not ready to talk about yet, and for what it's worth they appear unharmed.

if they are just starting to get slimy , I wouldnt worry . But if they are Starting to turn color, dont and smellling funny , definately dont like they have allready told you. But if they are just starting to turn slimy and barely smell weird , I would say it is okay .... In MY OPINION.

it really is hard to tell without being there to see them myself. I have done the same almost, it was over a period of only 4 days though and they did not smell they had just gotten a little moist... I was fine. Like TV said... its a personal thing if your unsure, just throw em man.

I wouldnt eat em. They can keep in the fridge for at least a week to maybe even 2 if your lucky. That is if they are kept sealed in tupper-ware with lots a paper towel in it to absorb moiture. If you kept em in a baggy with nothing like paper towel or anyway 2 breath then no. After even a week or so in the fridge kept right. i notice they start to turn from a healthy wht-tanish to a kinda brown on the inside. Thats kept right to. Shoulda dried em Bro
