Smells.

I have a question: say a Person were PC'ing some contaminated jars and a strong smell of urine-soaked pickles and prison musk were emanating, a stronger version of the more faint smell noticed prior to PC'ing; does this smell mean that the infection might somehow be escaping the jar (failure of the filter lid/ring?) or is it just some sort of fragrant gas byproduct pushing through the filter and into that Person's nose?

If you are PCing contaminated jars, you are going to vaporize a lot of chemicals. I'm going to guess that what you are smelling is probably ammonia and a few other byproducts of decomposition/contamination.

Fred - I've read, I think it was over at Nan's a few years back (long time lurker), that sterilizing contaminated jars before emptying them is safer as far as clouds of active spores springing forth are concerned.

And Fred, don't think you'll get my secret family recipe that easily.

So, you're just PCing them so that you can toss 'em, right?

Personally, I'd just save the trouble and take them outside the empty into the trashcan. But, I guess if you can stand the smell and extra effort it can't hurt.
