natural water

I read in the vaults natural water from a creek or river is best for dunking... Is this true even if the water is nasty creek river that smells like ass?

I don't know about dunking, but creek/river water is great for making cakes.

personally I wouldn't use smelly water for anything.
The creek or stream water is good from a spring fed source.
If it "smells like ass" than I wouldn't use it.

Hippie3 has posted quite a bit on the use of lake/creek/river water in PF-style cake mixes. Of course, if the water smells like a New Jersey sewer, find another source. Personally I have used river water for making cakes, but for dunking I use store-bought spring or distilled water. The basic idea for "natural" water is that it contains more helpful nutrients than treated water.

Of course if it does smell like ass, it could be from all the leached components of rotting plant matter? I'd at least boil the piss out of it myself before trying on a single cake or two, but then again, I'm a mad scientist at heart.
Who knows, mabey you'll end up with FrankenShroom?

my guess would be that foul smelling water lacks good oxygenation
but a good boil & filter should clean it up ok.
what you don't want is chemical pollutants-
those won't come out.
