Question Rain-x reduces condensation inside of fruiting tray covers ?

Has anyone used Rain-X to stop condensation on the tops of fruiting trays for mushrooms ?

Would it keep the lids water free and evaporation cycle humming and promote fae, energy and air exchange through poyfill ?

or would it slow or stop growth and introduce bad chemicals into the process?

If it worked safely it may keep you from having to open your projects after spawning until you harvest with much less chance of bacterial contams due to condensation and dripping water on fruit caps.

I have no projects to try this on so if someone else would try it id appreciate it

id imagine it would fp that is take care of the condensation on the top of the lid. not sure if id add chems to the chamber though.

ever try using press n seal for lids?

or have you seen the method sandman used with the mortar mixing tubs. he just simply places clear plastic over them with a few slits on the plastic. and does nothing. that way its like open air!

when your getting to your fruiting stage, your condensation is building up to high. you need to start dropping it by 10% to about 90 or so. this generally will happen a few days into fruiting. you can notice condensation heavily dripping down the sides. i have this illustrated well in that eatyu chamber thread.

kinda to rough gauge it, you can remove the polyfil from holes for a few hours. this can allow some of the moisture to escape. but the main problem is the one that i face constantly. usually during fruiting. a good fanning usually can deal with this or a quick wipe of a clean paper towel to soak up the water.

here is a few threads you can use to see some options about facing this problem sandman has the bags tied up to where they angle at the top. this makes the condensation go to the sides. when you have tubs on top of tubs similar to the setup in some of your posts. you will find that the condensation can collect on top of the flat surface like this. then it will drip on your substrate or sometimes cause bacteria on your fruits. usually that means you need to drop your rh. you got everything down tight but just lower the rh at the right time and you shouldn't have this problem.

look halfway down this thread where sandman posted. thats what im talking about..

you can also use something similar to jethros box tek using saran wrap as lids or even mycofiles bulk neglect box tek. very similar methods. all work well.

I bet it works and kicks ass... or that it just makes all the humidity condense and fall onto the fruits even worse :P

Plain Jane dish soap rubbed in works good too, but will need to be replaced after some time. You can fold a blanket up to fit the lid size and can leave it on the lid for some insulation. That helps to prevent a massive droplet mess, or at the least slows it down considerably.

these are good condensation control methods guys

I'm interested to hear from some one who's tried it.

kinda to 2nd this idea. stacking bins on top of bins seems to prevent the moisture from building on the tops as well. not sure why...
