![]() | Fruiting chamber design, help appreciated Hey, I've been working on perfecting my single FC and I got some ideas but still it feels like something isn't solved correctly :P. Yup, on the bottom I have crushed LECA, two shelves on the sides (for extra tubs ) and air holes covered with tyvek. I placed the holes on the left top side (right behind the fan) and on the right, near bottom. The fanning device is made of a pc fan and a phone charger if you wanted to know :P.Do you have any ideas where exactly I should place the fan? Near the 'fresh air holes', or maybe on the lid of the whole FC (under the sealing so to speak :P)? Well, the whole idea of fanning comes from FAE and lowering the temps a little bit, cause when I use a heater to reach higher RH, the temps get too high and the air is too still. Oh yeah, and it's mean to grow Pans at some point .

![]() | umm.. Is not temp a little bit too high? 84 degrees F I don't know much about this whole growing thing yet, and I might be wrong I don't think you need a heater in an FC, a shallow layer of LECA can provide 100 RH without any external help(for ex a bubbler) Lower temps will help to promote fruiting. I'm curious how the fan will work out for you, a bucket just been implemented with a small 5V one here, because cobweb is frequent visitor in my trays. good luck and please keep us updated |

![]() | I built a similar one 6 or 7 years ago. It was the bomb for cakes. No casings! Stays too humid. I had no fan, because I would hand fan the (wave the lid). Drop the temps to lower 70's. Do you have an air diffuser and air pump in there? Did see you mention one. I used the bendable air wands. I ran 2 length wise and let 'er rip. Worked awsome, but I get too technical about things and over do it. Any ?'s pm me.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Looks pretty good I would keep the temp a little lower. I go around 78. Also if you dont need the fan I wouldnt go that route, because I have seen many end up with there cakes/casing drying out because the fan was to strong. However I have also seen others have good results with a fan. I guess for me I just enjoy fanning and giving them that little extra love. Also I run the holes all the way around my fc's. I put some on the top, and some on the bottom normally around 8-11 on the top and bottom, so 16-22 total. Your setup looks good though, and with the fan your just gonna have to try it out.

![]() | It worked great for tex's so far . 29 degrees may be a little too warm but they can grow in temps as low as 17-18. Actually I haven't seen them growing so fast before. 4 days from pins to mature shrooms . Anyway - I'm going to install a thermostat soon, so I see no problem in controling the temps. This FC is meant to score pans some day! ![]() The only problem I've had so far is that evaporation is really high and my 'flat cake' kinda dried out easily. I'll give it some more moist verm for the next flush (it flushed 5 times already o_O). As for the fan - I have no diffuser. It just blows the air straight to the bottom. It was definitely a good upgrade! ![]()
