| AA Pressure Cooker to Sterilizer Mod The All American pressure cookers come in 2 flavors as many of you probably know. The pressure cookers and the sterilizers are the 2 types. The only difference is that the sterilizer uses 2 toggle valves which totally shut off steam escape when toggled where the pressure cookers use a weight to regulate the amount of pressure inside and also uses a rubber safety blow out plug for secondary pressure control. The sterilizers also have a interior basket and a flexible vent tube that fits into a slot in said basket. The sterilizer has several advantages. 1) Uses little to no water during the PC cycle. You can run the cooker for upwards of 8 hours if you were so inclined. Thats a long day there... 2) Uses less water in the pc. Heats up faster. 3) Very easy to set and keep the pressure at various settings. 4) The ability to hit 20psi. The toggle valve releases at 23psi. However I'm not sure what pressure the rubber plug will blow out at. I don't ever run at 20psi right now, but 17psi is fine and dandy. Cant do that with the weight! However they are much more expensive and slightly harder to come by compared to the pressure cookers. This mod will turn any AA model cooker into a pseudo sterilizer with all of the benefits. Simply go to the Wisconsin aluminum store website here and search for part 65 (Z000134) it is $18 plus shipping. Simply remove your weight pipe with a deep socket and ratchet. I think it was 3/8 but I can't recall at this very second. Probably not since im stoned.... Anyway it comes right off and the new one will screw tight in place and thats it your done! Now when you run your cooker you only need to add about a quart, quart and half water and your heat is how you adjust the pressure.

| Real good information there and well worth the time and money for modification, IMHO. Thanks for sharing it with us.

| hey sandman got a question on this aa mod. when applying this do you still run you pc after it hit 15 psi? just curious seems like if you kept it on the burner it would keep building pressure if none was escaping as it heated. |

| Yea you will stil need to apply heat when it reaches pressure. It iwll take a litle less heat than before the mod though. It is very easy to set the heat just right with this mod.
