3rd try at this..wanna get it right this time!!!

Well i guess i could start by saying this is the best place on earth to find help on this subject...everyone is so helpfull and freindly..So with that all my freinds come to my aid...starting new kits this friday want to make sure i got it right..always loose to trich want to explain my tactics and see if any one has better ideas for me?

Well first i will make my clean room for the first time ever,since i was directed to the archives and read about the clean room .Needles come sterile and so does grain bags .I will do all my inoculations in the clean room..[ using bag grain 10 bags with ports self healing].. inoculating with tc strain..Going to let bags fully col..Wich i usualy slap considering my lack of patience..I will move all bags to the room were i let them col.No light , room temp around 80-83 degrees..Then when ready will mix 3 bags with 2 gallons of sub [pre pastureized donkeydo with straw] all mixing will be done in clean room again or in room where i left in dark maintain darkness till sub is fully run. then case with 50/50 peat vermic pc'ed for 1 hourand at optimum moisture.then placed back in room till case in fully run. Then cold shocked 12/12 light cycle and regular fae wich im not sure how many a day to do going to use perlite with polyfill ...once first flush is acheived should bring the temp up or keep cold shock going ...Any help or sug. would be great please feel free to critize or bager my tactics as i have not much knowledge of this this hobby and need to learn more.

WELL i explained we will see ..i hate trich it blows thats the contam i get just threw out my 2nd attemt this morning hope fully my enmy wont show his face this time..

It seems to me that a common denominator that has been evident in alot of the cases of trich infestations always include peat. Verm and coir have always worked well for many folks. If you can get coir use coir (just my 2 cents). Also, cold shocking is completely unnecessary and only slows down the process IMO.

so you r saying it possible that peat is carying the trich but i always micro it this time im going to pc the peat and verm and where would one find coir?

I don't have any definitive answer about whether or not peat carries trich, but it just seems to me that people that use it have more problems than those that do not. You can find coco coir(coconut fiber) at a pet store..in the reptile section(reptile bedding). Also I think that some of the sponsors carry coco coir. Some folks don't even past or sterilize coir ( I microwave for 10 minutes on high just to be safe). Hydroponics stores carry coir also but that coir is said to have trich in it on purpose (beneficial to plants I think) so I would steer clear of that.

ok thanx bro....its just alote of work we put in to this shit and to have it go bad really blows and makes you want to give up..what do you think of my plan any more input would be great...what about if i donmt case at all how will the yeilds be? better to case or not i am using poo and straw as sub?

I would start with a simple PF tek, then work your way up to spawning and casing. Learn the basics, then step your way up. That's just my 2 cents.

Your plan looks good to me ..I would add that when u innoc the jars either "wrap" the needle in an alcohol laden napkin or do it in a glovebox after cleaning the needle with alcohol. Also, you dont need to PC the verm and I never use peat..I prefer Coir..that's a personal preference though. Cold shocking isn't necessary and will even set you back timewise. You will want to drop the temps down to low to mid 70's during the fruiting cycle though.

agreed but already orderd the grain bags and sub so all thats left to do is try again .. maybe i wont case this time around... the 1rst bulk grow i did on straw as sub did rather well got mushies and all but trich turned up when i took it out side and dumped it i noticed it had started from the bottom and worked its way to the surface of the caseing...i would like to try brf cakes but not sure where to find brown rice i need to find a health food store..

ok but isnt dropping the temp from the mid 80s to the 70s ashock to the mycelium...and is 3 bags enough for the sub 2 gallons

No approx a 10 degree drop from colonization temps to fruiting temps is suggested.

I don't know how big the bags are you are referring to so I can't give sound advise.

three cups per bag...also treasure coast strain

There are 16 cups in a gallon and you have 2 gallons so that is 32 cups of substrate. You plan to use 9 cups of spawn so the ratio would be approx 3.5 to 1. Yes that is acceptable and should finish fairly quickly.

To case or not to case ..that is a personal preference..I think TC is a good strain.
