    fc & ae question.

    should a fc with humidifier and air exchange (air pump & tropicaire) have holes drilled it in or can it be completely sealed?
    see photos.

    Don't quote me on this, I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will chime in....

    I think you would want some holes near the bottom, to allow the CO2 out.

    For the most part tubs don't seal up very well.
    The Tropic Aire is a great tool in this hobby too.
    I think you'll be fine with out adding holes for the FAE, I've been successful in a tub using the TA and no holes.

    My system will blow wisps of fog between the lid and tub, using just the humidifier. The FAE will stir things up and definitely push old air out.

    I'd opt for no holes and limit airborne contams.

    Just my nickel's worth.

    humidity trouble

    with perlite, tropic air, and handspraying, i can't get the humidity past 55%.

    any suggestions?

    I think your hygrometer may need calibrating or you need a new one. It is highly improbable that the RH doesn't get above 55% with all that h20 being introduced.
